Going back to what I learned during my Boy Scout days, which I still use today, are : wear dry socks to bed, wear a hat, dress appropriately with long johns fleece pants , tops etc. Easier to be too warm and crack the bag than be cold and try to add layers and get warm.
When backpacking...
Part two of my three part series Arctic Adventures in a Vintage Land Cruiser is now live in TCT magazine . The article starts on page 41. I hope you enjoy the article and I look forward to your comments...
I liked drop the trailer and buy new tires Where? You are better off having a spare with you rather than being a hours or days from someplace you can buy a tire.
The trailer was about 1500lbs . Unfortunately it was designed to be pulled behind a Subaru and not a FJ-60 on a 13,000 mile...
Good point if the tire is shredded , like blowout on the highway. I had a blowout with 33's so the truck was sitting on the rim. I had to lift that wheel/axle over 10" to get the spare on. That was quite a bit of work with a highlift and a bottle jack. I can imagine how hard that would...
Thanks . Even out of a 16" barrel the Tac loads work great. When I was in Iraq, the SF guys would always ask if we could give them excess ammo. They claim one shot kills vs two or three shots with FMJ rounds.
My usual breakfast is instant oatmeal cup or some grapefruit. Lunch is whatever works. Trail mix to Slim Jims and Fritos to a sandwich.
Dinner can be a steak , grilled sausages on my Adventure Skottle , homemade spaghetti sauce with precooked pasta . Cooking Coq au Vin , Beouf...
My new "Truck gun" besides my Glock 26, is a Rock River 5.56 pistol . It fits perfectly in a helmet bag. Takes up little room in my Cayenne.
Grab and go with 40 rds of Federal 62 grain Tactical loads. No need to double tap with these babies. Extra mags fit nicely in the helmet bag pockets.

My wife and I spent three months traveling through Canada and Alaska this past summer . If you are not planning to go to Alaska leave the shotgun at home. You are NOT allowed to use a firearm in self defense against wildlife in Canada. get some bear spray, air horns and in Canada go to...
Great trip. My wife and I spent last summer driving to Alaska and Canada. 13,000 miles in three months. We drove to Deadwood and Tuk. Both fantastic drives.
Here is a link to an article published in TCT magazine on the Deadhorse trip. Part two should be coming out shortly and the third...
I have 360 degrees of flood lights on my FJ-60 . Great for arriving to camp in the darkness. After camp is set up then it is a head lamp and my trusty Coleman lantern. For me nothing sounds better than the hissing of a Coleman lantern
A 37 x12.50 x17 tire weights about 75lbs add the wheel and it is close to 90lbs.
I know with a 33 x 10.50 x 15 tire/rim combo I can only get it on my roof by myself if I get it on the hood and roll it up the windshield and get it on the roof rack. That is not my preferred method but any...
