HAM vs. GMRS - The Great Debate

I have a General class license. KG4BCN. Both of you are right, to a point. GMRS is a lot easier to obtain a license. Ham radio “lets look at 440 or 2 meters”. Requires studying and a technician class test. IF a repeater is in the area you are in you’re set. If not you’re working simplex...

    Ocala - Tread Lightly

Talking about maps don't forget the Gaia MVUM maps of Ocala National Forest. No reason to piss off the rangers and the FWC police because you are in an area you're not supposed to be in. Stuff does happen tho. I'd say I never got off the trail but that would be a lie.

    Wannabe Explorer

Glad you could join us Anton. I'm from Tampa and yea if you don't have floats on the side of your vehicle there isn't much to do in south Florida. About the closest would be Croom WMA, Richloam WMA or Ocala National Forest. Hopefully someday we can get together as a group in one of these spots.

    Florida- Deathvalley Trip

Welcome to the Overland community group Arman. They worry about earthquakes in California like we worry about Hurricanes here in Florida. You can prepare for the heat a lot by just making sure you have enough to drink. If you want to check out the lower altitudes during the heat of the day...
