    Essential gear/mods for a newbie

I also have a stock 17 TRD OR. Just took it wheeling with some friends and it did great. Only gear I had was some locally made traction boards (Action Trax out of Wichita, KS if anyone is curious), a receiver hitch shackle, tire deflator, a jack, and a recovery strap. Only used the tire...

Advice: Keep 07 JK or get a Tacoma

Thankfully mine isn’t costing me anything except Insurance and whatever money I put into it.

Advice: Keep 07 JK or get a Tacoma

I don’t want this to come out wrong, but it’s nice to know I’m not the only one facing this problem. I’ve had my 05 TJ Rubicon since 2009. It was my daily driver and fun rig up until I bought my 17 Tacoma TRD Off Road about a year ago. I’ve been battling myself on whether or not to sell the...

Qbaums 2017 Taco Bomb Adventure Build

Looking forward to seeing the build. We basically have the same story. I also have a 17 TRDOR but started in jeeps as well. First Jeep was a 99 XJ then I went to a 05 TJ Rubicon, which I still have but battle myself daily on whether or not to keep it. I’m building mine as I go, just ordered...

    Waterproofing the Plano Sportsman box

Thanks for the post. Just picked up a Plano box and was trying to figure out a good way to water/dust proof it.

    Beavers Bend/Broken Bow, Oklahoma

I 100% agree with you. Also, FYI theres a group called Konza Overland that I just got involved with through a friend and we are doing the Kickapoo Trail March 24th and 25th. Trail is mainly dirt roads but we're going to camp and cruise around. Check them out on FB if you're interested.

This definitely looks like a place to check out. Close to home also. Thanks for the post.

    Badrun 2017 Tacoma build.

Truck looks awesome, thanks for posting the build. Gives me lots of ideas for my '17 TRDOR.

    2016 Tacoma Overland Adventure Vehicle

Very nice truck. I have a 2017 TRD Off Road double cab short bed. Stock right now but looking at getting some 265/75R16 Falken Wildpeak AT/3Ws in the near future. Planning to do a mild build along the way, i.e. sliders and skids, suspension when it comes time but nothing crazy, 1-2" max...

    2000 Jeep Wrangler "Blue J"

    First Timer trip to Uwharrie

Uwharrie is a ton of fun. Used to go out there all the time when I was stationed in NC. Here's a few pics I was able to dig up. Have fun

Who still uses TJ/LJ's for Overlanding

I’m kind of in the same boat as you wiznodie. I’ve had my ‘05 TJ Rubicon for 9 years now. I’ve done small upgrades due to it being my DD up until last year when I bought a ‘17 Tacoma TRD OR. I mostly cruise back roads here in KS and occasionally get to an ORV park. Would like to get in to some...

Drawer system v. Tool box/storage boxes....

I agree that a roll up bag would be the way to go for tools specifically. I was also thinking using it as storage for other gear as well. I do appreciate your input though. I do need to get a roll up tool bag to start carrying.

Drawer system v. Tool box/storage boxes....

I may be crazy, but I was in Lowe’s around Christmas sale time and an idea came to me when I passed the tool box section and thought one of the smaller garage type tool boxes would maybe work well as a seudo drawer system. They usually have a lid on top for easy access, a couple different size...

    Falken Wildpeak AT3W's

Great to see some feedback on these tires. I've been eyeballing these for my Tacoma for a while now.

    Kansas Members??

Tuttle is a lot of fun. Was just up there a couple months ago. A lot of trails and most are mild enough for stock vehicles but they also have some more aggressive spot for the built up rigs.
