    who likes bacon :)

Being a believer of following the Carnivore dietary life, bacon be a MAIN STAPLE and always welcome. Hard to beat a big pile of bacon on a cold morning in the hills with a side of Irish coffee.

Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

Basically 24/7. This falls under the paradigm of better to have and not need that not have and need. Not only for the various types of predator's one may encounter, but also, in many decades of camping/off-roading, I have become aware of a change in the "wilderness attitude" one may encounter...

An argument against Roof Top Tents

My two Golden Retrievers nixed the roof top approach. While they are smart and learn quickly, ladders are not their forte.

Gas Lantern or Battery powered Lantern?

Am a fan of both based on the needs. In the chill of winter air my hands "stop working". Have a propane lamp heat source has saved many a meal. For the camper/tent LED, for me is the way to go. For portability, fixing a broken thing in the dead of night, LEDs are hard to beat. Be they head...

    Funky Tire Pressure Guage

Just received my super duper super slick Smitty Build Heavy Duty air compressor kit. We be styling now. This included an air gage. When I tested it against my current dial air gage it was reading 10lbs lower. A couples of pounds is normal between gages. While I am not going to lose any...

Is this Coleman stove any good?

Switched to propane decades back. Run a stack pole with hoses and topped with a lantern attached to a 20lbs jug. Can run the stove, lantern and heater off one jug. Currently looking at converting the lighting to battery with a solar charger. Love the stove. Less hassles than the older white...

Do you run a DIY tarp awning?

Was looking at utilizing a wall tent for a while. Mostly for the snow & cold in the winter. Back burner for now. What I am looking at now is to make a tarp & frame off the back of the camper shell. ARE with the double door that swings up providing full access to the back of the camper/bed...

Censorship in the time of mistrust

My 3 cents is I am not on here for political, nor do I want to see, political discussions. There are an unlimited number of sites pandering to political discussions . Some of which I am a member of and partake in presenting differing views. On here I am looking for a break from the "he said...

do you skip 3/8 drive sockets?

3/8s are my goto. 1/4s mostly when into the dash/electrical. 1/2 are the muscle-up when required. Dedicated 3/4s with breaker bar for wheel lugs and such. For what ever reason GM felt it was best to utilize both metric and SAE nut & bolts on my built my 99 Silverado (Canadian build).

    Swing away hitch mount

Called "Charge what the market will bear." I have noticed most everything is grouped together in pricing. For me the pricing had a habit of moving many things to the "nice to have list". I also work my must have and nice to have lists using the local auctions. Estate sales are great. Just...

    Winch Mounting

A winch is moving up the list. Have review the prior post to help narrow the selection. My question is on mounting. Getting a winch and a bumper is not in the doable near future. Looking at a hitch receiver mounting plate approach. This will also the ability "winch" the trouble away from...

New Brogans In Prep For A New Season Overland.

Rain, snow and dry poads for the past few day. I am impressed with the Coopers. Real surprise has been how quite they are. Traction has been great. Handling great. I have dropped the tire pressure from the tire shop of 60lbs to 44lbs front and 40lbs rear. Being an old fart, I use the old...
