Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I have not, but I think I may have briefly looked at it. I am able to download offline maps and satellite images and such via Gaia but storage space is the main limiting factor
Welcome to Overland Bound! We are also a family of 4 (5 by the end of the month!) who love to disconnect and explore as much as we can. You're in the right place!
I know right? Titan has since come out with a v2 model which has the same capacity but looks a bit more streamlined http://titanfueltanks.com/titan-trail-trekker-ii-4040287
Just about every time I think of my Jeep I get Dolly's Jolene stuck in my head now. It's a blessing and a curse, but mostly...
Good to hear on both accounts. Did you pick it up from a surplus store or some other way? Here in Tucson we have a big government surplus vehicle store that i've heard can get their hands on trailers, too. One of these days I'll swing by there and talk to somebody
Welcome from Arizona! I've been thinking about looking for an M-416 to pull around. How do you like it? Did you have to do a lot of rehab on it after purchasing?
I LOVE hammock life, I made the switch at the beginning of this year. After two trips sleeping in the hammock in overnight mid-30F temps, I was informed about under quilts, holy crap, makes all the difference! Now that the temps have warmed up I don't even need a sleeping bag most of the time
Thanks! Rubi would definitely be a good name for your JKU!
I don't think you can cache G Earth in the mobile version, but the desktop version definitely lets you download and cache satellite data and any map overlays (which is use A LOT)
I've had a similar thought too. Radio hookup would be great, could use it to send/receive messages via Winlink or APRS as well. I think my biggest want/need would be for Google Earth. Almost every single time I'm out run into a situation where I'd love to just be able to pop up satellite images...
I have a friend who has a 15-20 year old double duty camping trailer that he brings out one some of our trips when we think there's a good chance that the trails won't be too rough. Like @1Louder points out though, that's never been a 100% safe gamble. Almost every time he takes it out we end up...
While driving around on the El Pinacate Reserve in Mexico checking out old volcanos and huge volcanic craters I was brutally attacked out of nowhere by a huge dust devil that decided to appear immediately on top of us giving us a nice surprise sand and gravel blasting. Thankfully my friend...
Almost 10 months since we first bought her, Jolene hit the 10k miles mark while we were driving down to Mexico for a week of exploring there. We pulled over and I took her 10k mile portrait:
She's finally starting to come together but of course the TODO list keeps getting longer and longer with...
I was so pumped to use the new rack, and thankfully I had a trip coming up the next day. The ironic part is that since my wife wasn't going to be able to join for this trip, I was able to do some expert-level gear tetris and ended up not needing to use the rack. I think it was my most efficient...
As I may have mentioned earlier in the thread, our main annoyance by this time was lack of space for longer trips. If we were headed out on a multi day trip, we'd have the back packed up to the top, leaving little to no rear window view, and all the space in the back seats that wasn't taken up...
This is a beautiful rig! Do you have a youtube channel set up already? I'd love to follow along. I'm down in Tucson, feel free to hit me up if your adventure takes you near here. Come say "Hi" in the Arizona Overlanders thread!
Oh yeah, and welcome to the OB family!
