Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Think we'll need to bring extra fuel? I have a ~13gal reserve tank, but I try not to put anything in it unless i know i'm gonna need to dip into it since it adds additional sloshing-around weight
I'd be interested in doing that hike as well. I've heard it's best to get up and out REALLY early to avoid lots of crowds and slowdowns on the return hike
(Originally posted in my build thread, but I figured a repost here might be useful for the greater community)
I have a SuperFlow air compressor that I carry in the jeep. I love the compressor, it works great, but I swear like 25% of the time it takes to air up my tires is spent screwing on the...
Looks so beautiful from all your photos and video! My father and one of my brothers are in Iceland right now tooling around for 10 days and I'm super jealous.
What is that second vehicle in the river crossing video with 6 wheels?
10-4 Star Princess! :tearsofjoy:
Yeah, even the handheld CBs should have plenty of range to communicate once we are in a group. I have the Midland 75-822 handheld that i use as my only CB. it has an external antenna adapter so i have it inside the Jeep always connected to a 3' Firestik antenna...
Yep. The way I look at it is that at ~$300 a pop for MaxTrax it was not worth it for me to have the tiny bit of insurance it would give me, and really, the insurance was only in that it will possibly make it easier/faster for me to get unstuck from certain situations. I have enough other gear...
FYI, the range of CB is not all that great, a few miles in the average conditions. So don't count on the CB to be able to make contact with any of us unless you have basically already found and joined the group. As for call signs, in my experience, the only people who use "handles" on CB are...
For 3" round patches (pretty common patch size) I buy velcro backs from soccer referee supply stores. They have the super sticky 3M backing that holds up to the heat just fine (For temperature reference, I'm in Tucson, AZ). Referee Store sells them for ~$2, which is the best price i've found so...
I've been impressed at how much they change the internal temperature of the jeep. It's made an awesome difference. Here's the ones I picked up, they are the official MOPAR ones, although there are some other companies that make similar versions, possibly for less money...
Slipped into a washout along the US/Mexico border last week. Nothing a quick pop into 4WD didn't solve.
EDIT: For the curious, that's the border fence on the right side of the image.
.
Nice looking JKU! I'm thinking I might swap out my exhaust soon as well. My stock tail pipe is quite dinged up at this point, would be nice to get it all tucked up and out of the way
