Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
A couple quick thoughts. Is it an automatic and if so, do you know if the radiator has been replaced? If it hasn't, you probably need to have that done asap before the radiator goes bad and it cooks the transmission. My 07 lost the transmission because of that and it's a pretty expensive fix...
I didn't really start this to debate which was better, but rather to just get an idea of how popular the different means were. I have Ham in my Xterra constantly and can add CB pretty easily as well as a FRS radio hand held. I'm going to get my GMRS license soon as well.
We can try, the last couple times I've tried a CB tuning session, the issues have been much larger than just a high SWR. I can bring my analyzer though.
Sounds good to me! Looking at it on Google, if you wanted a case of water or a specific cut of steak, you might want to have that already but it looks like a great place to stock up, grab some ice and refuel. Parking looks tight but there's a gravel spot across the road that's fair game I guess...
@xnooby63 You seem to know the area best there Bob. Any suggestions for places to meet-up that morning. Maybe a grocery store near there so anyone who hasn't, can stock up for the ride?
With somewhere between 4-7 hrs on the trail, drinks and a meal or two in the cooler is probably a good idea.
I'm familiar with that type and have a friend who fabbed one up for his 79 F150 Truggy. It helps with axle wrap, but neither of us think it's worth it for driveshaft protection, just helped him save u-joints from axle wrap and got his truck hooking up hard enough to wring off 31 spline 9" Ford...
They make a good bit of difference in axle wrap but honestly they don't do a whole lot to protect the drive shaft. You'll still have to be very careful and aware of your lines. The problem isn't the large slabs, it's the pointy rocks that come out of nowhere and wreck pinion yokes and put bends...
I've used air soft pellets in three sets of tires now. 31s, 33s, and now 35s. They have worked well for me. The 33s were Boggers and ran smooth at 65mph on the highway and getting chunks torn out off-road didn't affect the balance.
If you come in from 33 at the reservoir, there's a neat spot on the left to camp beside the creek, good for 1 or 2 trucks. I want to stay there sometime.
Keep your eyes out on the meet-up forum, we're hoping to do a statewide Virginia meet-up with camping in this area.
In the western Virginia region, we're working on a trip next month to Big Levels near Staunton. You'd be welcome to come out for that. We're also working on a statewide trip over a weekend through that area.
I just wanted something to cook on at camp. Up till my first stove, we always just cooked hotdogs on sticks. Now we're working toward trail gourmet! Now I'm hooked on them and can't quit buying them when I find them for single digit prices....
I was hooked before I found this one but it popped up on the facebook yard sale page and I snapped it up. The date is stamped under the fuel tank mounting tabs.
