Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Yeah Poe Paddy Drive and Strong Mountain are just a sea of rocks. I don’t have any concerns going down Poe Paddy but my preferred route direction takes you up the mountain. The Subaru is a mountain goat haha.
Looking at your route today you drove right by Henstep and then turned around...
Its unfortunately been that way for as long as I’ve been going there. There are a few roads/trails that are out and backs. Some more worth it than others. I generally always come from the East and make the right on Red Ridge.
Running AND in gear or the interlock will keep you from being able to shift.
FYI this is from a previous Subaru manual in regards to holding the button..
- When the switch has been pressed to deactivate the Vehicle Dynamics Control system, the Vehicle Dynamics Control system automatically...
I completely understand what you're saying. What I was saying is that this complaint is nothing new. If you've ever read a complaint about the CVT off road what you were really reading about was, in fact, this issue. Knowing how the nannies behave and when they're a problem has kept me from ever...
The issue with VSC/TC on all modern Subarus isn't a new one and it isn't limited to Subaru. It's been discussed here and all over social media for years, typically under the guise of a CVT complaint. My first experience with this was back in 2004 on my 2003 350Z so I was all over it when I...
Haha thank you!
There was just a get together but there isn't a scheduled regular thing. In other words keep an eye on the calendar...

Another thing to check out is Rally Point. You can narrow down results by region...
As far as I know the only primitive camping allowed is backpacking. The motorized camping is limited to Black Moshannon, SB Elliot, and Parker Dam State Parks.
Not counting seasonal issues they consider the 1,400 mile NEBDR to be the 2nd most difficult. I’m sure it’s, at the very least, scenic. I hope I get to take a crack at it sooner than later and come up with some workarounds for the single track sections.
I knew eventually they would make one but 3 years ago I had to modify one to work. It’s been solid and securely mounted to my roof ever since. @Jeepsies you might recall it from mudfest 2018 haha.
So right on schedule they released the North East Backcountry Discovery Route. Unlike the Mid Atlantic Backcountry Discovery Route it is not 100% passable by 4 wheeled road going vehicles but that certainly wont stop people from exploring the rest of it. These are two points that stuck out for...
Welcome to Overland Bound and the East Region @BadWolf42! Feel free to reach out with any Subaru questions and also check out the Subaru Registry link in my sig.
Haha ok. Don’t forget that 3 legged FB25 (2.5 not 2.4) routinely does better off road than the literally living in 2007 EZ36 with long legs to help squeeze out mpg. Also the FA24 has been on the road for a year and a half already so I wouldn’t necessarily consider it untested. But hey.. to each...
I can agree with this to a point but durability comes at a price. It doesn’t have to be Surefire price but I’m also not carrying a $10 light on my duty belt.
Just a heads up @jrichbrew @DevilDodge and anyone else that reads this. It doesn’t necessarily take ice to cause drivability concerns there. With no winter maintenance if you go there during or following a snow storm the packed tracks on forest roads turn to ice and there are plenty of sections...
