Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I'm going to have to see how the cab sits on the frame. I would like to maintain the Vette fuel tank instead of running the in cab fuel tank from the pickup. The issue there will be that the Corvette fuel tank is on top of the frame right at the back, where I would want a bed. A lot of this is...
Started making a game plan for lifting the body off of the Vette today. Found some rust in the metal part of the body so now I don't feel so bad about ripping off the body. Here's a few photos of what I'm working with.
Oh and the parts that will turn this into my dream build, the Cummins B...
So I have been tossing around this idea for a build for a while, and well a few other members here encouraged me to make a build thread. Now first off I will say this isn't 100% an overlanding build. I will end up using it for my version of overlanding (that being taking roads less traveled and...
True, I do know of one outfit up in the 150s that has actually purchased a commercial license. I didn't get the exact frequency.
As far as radios go, the conversation started because I noticed a 50watt Kenwood in the truck I was working on. So they aren't always cheaping out on gear.
You should be able to find racks and guards pre made. If not I would look around for a shop that does some fabrication work. To find one, ask at a place that sells high performance car or off road truck parts, the people there will have recommendations.
I keep up on regular maintenance so well I don't worry about other inspections. Also being a professional mechanic I usually pickup on things before they cause failures. Finally I'm never to proud to stop and look. I stop on trails quite often to look things over, this keeps me out of most...
I see what you're asking but in going with the spirit of this community I don't think it matters. All that matters is that you are getting out there and exploring. The means of transport is fully secondary to the idea of using said vehicle to cover more ground in less time and in greater...
A good friend of mine has an XJ and a TJ both with over 500K.
Most of my higher millage rigs had plenty of issues, but thats because I used to be really hard on my junk. For the amount of hell I put it through I was always impressed with my old 1980 Isuzu pickup. I sold it 10 years ago mostly...
I would say stay away from the second gens. The 3.2l v6 is an oil drinker and the 3.5 isn't much better. Also they run a 4l30e auto trans which has no business being in a truck. It's a shame really, they are amazing rigs, also parts support for Isuzu light trucks has gone way downhill.
Nitrogen filled tires is not a scam, nitrogen being an inert gas will not expand and contract with heat thus giving more consistent pressure over a wider range of temperature and driving conditions. That said, if you check you tires like you should it's not needed, and topping off with air is...
I have taken my 05 Ford Escape quite a few places, it has fuel lines and such hanging out in the open. Just know your rig and don't be afraid to get out and look or turn around.
Hey just a heads up, talking to logger from Chewelah today and HAM came up. Turns out a few outfits are starting to run on 146.555. Figured others might like to know so we know where the trucks are and they know where we are.
