Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
So I had some mounts fabricated by a guy on a 3rd Gen 4Runner board for my new hi lift that I like to refer to as a Spanish Inquisition Device.
You remove two tie downs just inside the lift gate and put in the mounts et Viola. BUT, I have caveman-like mechanical skills, I broke off the screw...
Google Earth to get my bearings. Gaia to download area. paper after that. cell phones while they can... Getting an older Garmin Rhino, which I'm excited to get to know.
I'm glad you're doing this as I'm new and this would help. I haven been stuck yet, but I have:
Shovel, snatch strap, two d-rings up front, one rear (hitch) & hi lift.
Me too. I have a lot of the parts in hand but can't put them all on at once. I'm curious about Death Valley too, but I'll need some smaller trips to get more...seasoned! A winter trip out there looks pretty possible though.
You do have the rig, that's for sure. Keep checking out this site and @michaels videos. I'd also recommend looking at their trip out towards Joshua Tree. As summer is "kinda" ending, that's not too bad for you.
There's also a boatload of YouTube videos with advice and how too's. Welcome!
This looks like a very fun trip. I'd still recommend dipping down into Colorado for some elevation, but you're right, you may want to save it for a separate run altogether. Aerial America is great! That's very cool that inspired you to see some of the locations...
