Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Welcome from another old guy.
I get you on not needing massive amounts of mods to be able to get there and back. I ran almost all of the "hard" trails in Colorado on 31"s but got into hard core rock crawling for a long time. Now I am settling back to my life long love... exploring. Problem...
Are you talking about the improved views due to the lack of trees (aka forest fire)?
I grew up in Walden. Two things I remember about the lakes, the mosquitos, and getting giardia from the lake.
Got really frustrated. I ordered my electronically controlled forced diesel powered heater for the trailer. It got delivered from China. The only problem is that they delivered to Tennessee instead of Colorado. Hope to have it here by Thanksgiving so I can get it installed while I am home...
My rig is designed that it will not bind, no matter how tight I turn. The trailer can actually go more than 90 degrees to the vehicle, so if necessary, I can actually back up a bit, turning even tighter, without worrying about binding the tongue.
If perchance the inside tire has to ride up on...
Seriously thinking about doing some updates on the trailer then heading over to Moab and running White Rim Trail on Sunday and Monday before TurkeyDay.

Blacktop Highways
(1) Red Mountain Pass between Ouray and Silverton Colorado
(2) Hwy 128 between Moab and I-70 (Cisco Exit)
(3) Hwy 7 / Hwy 72 Peak to Peak Highway from Estes Park to Nederland Colorado (Aspens in the Fall)
(4) Hwy 145 from Cortez to Telluride Colorado
(5) Going...
I am going to be back in NorCo starting Friday before Thanksgiving through the Saturday after Turkey day. I am interested in doing a one or two day jaunt to the mountains. Anybody want to tag along? Have a favorite location?
You can take Dead Man down to the Laramie river to the west. Then head south to the top of Cameron Pass. Head west to Gould and then head west over to Rand. From there you could go across to Buffalo Pass and over the top down into Steamboat Springs, then north up to Hog Park reservoir and on...
A hint for you guys running the military surplus old design cans and mounting them upright. Take a piece of gas line hose and split it lengthwise, open it up and slide it on the bottom of the can around the outside edge seam. It keeps them from rattling and also from wearing through the seam...
