What happens to my milegae when I lift and install big tires?

It isn't so much that it takes more gas to move the big tires, but that the tires will lower the engine rpm's for a given speed. This can move you out of the power band for the engine and cause a loss of power and mpg's. A small tire diameter change is not a big deal but going from stock to...

    CO/WY/UT/NM Winter Trip

Bring tire chains. If 4wd, then two pairs. RimRocker can get some decent snow and you are well beyond cell coverage.

    Here is my teardrop build.

What I really needed was a 5x10 .25"/8mm I really would have liked to be able to do the top in one piece.

    Question on renewing membership

I was gifted a membership almost a year ago by a member. I am wanting to renew, but have not received any email and at first glance haven't found a button. How do I know when my membership is up? How do I renew?

    Here is my teardrop build.

Nice to see another craftsman at work. Beautiful wood work. Baltic birch is one of my favorites. I used the 1/4" due to it being available in 5x5. Being a metal worker as well, I did a square steel tubing frame to keep things strong and light. Metal intimidates many but is not hard if you...

    Estes park run 2018

Next time you are in the area, look me up. I live in Loveland, just down the hill from Estes Park. You most likely drive within a half mile of my house. I am currently working in DC but hope to be back home in March.

    Here is my teardrop build.

Since you are starting from scratch, think about adding a Webasto type heater for the CEO. It will make your life a ton easier. If you are interested, I can show you where you can get one for less than $200. It is really nice just setting the thermostat.

The boy Scouts used to teach this. Practically no one knows how any more. My office walls are covered with topo's from around the world.

Let’s see some DIY projects that’s been done for your Rigs.

My whole teardrop trailer was a DIY project. I designed it from scratch and fabricated it. I didn't even start with a trailer. You can see the build thread below.

Depending on where you are going in Utah, July will be HOT. Moab is routinely well over 100F around then.

    Denver to Grand Canyon

Southern Utah offers some nice offroad options, but remember, even though it is desert, it snow there and can get nasty. The Southern Utah Traverse is a neat set of trails, but can get slightly technical. You will be a hundred miles from anywhere and on your own, be careful.

    Denver to Grand Canyon

Off pavement in Colorado during that time frame is really not possible for the most part. Weather is highly unpredictable. It can be anywhere from 70f to -4of and 4 feet of snow. You are talking about parking at a trailhead and cross country skiing and snow shoeing in Colorado during this...

    What Books/Movies Inspire You?

October Sky. The parallels are uncanny. I saw Sputnik as a small child and I made a vow to work in Space. I came from an abusive home and left while still in highschool, and have been on my own every since. I now design and test all manners of satellites and rockets.

    Honeymoon Trip Planning Help

Do not pass up US Glacier National Park. At the very least, drive through it from East to West. If you have a couple of hours, take the steam powered boat trip from the Chalet. Now remember this is her honeymoon, not a camping trip, you are along for the ride. Do some nice things. Slow...
