    RoamingTimber's Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ

@HangryMachinist let me know if you do. I've still got measurements and additional photos to help out if you need it. Overall it wasn't too hard and its probably the best modification I've done yet.

Has anyone used a Hitchgate? Feedback?

I still say build your own. You could buy a welder and build it cheaper than you could buy one. Then you can customize it to your needs.

Thanks man, one of my main goals with it was to make it look as factory as possible.

Buy a welder and build your swing gate. It's easier than you think and tons of fun.

    RoamingTimber's Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ

@jordanbrooks I used the mega spindle from A to Z Fabrication for my hinge, it was the beefiness I could find and I like our kill on projects like this. For the latch I used a U-Bolt pill action 90 degree toggle clamp from McMaster Carr. The latch is rated to 1000lbs, the pull action keeps the...

    RoamingTimber's Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ

When I installed my lift and larger tires i also installed a roof top basket and used that for my spare tire. I knew when I did this that it would be less than ideal and I was right. The tire and wheel combo weigh in around 70lbs, having that much weight that high up added a significant amount...

    Winter Camping

@WUzombies End of May, beginning of June so a little of both. It will be our 3rd Yellowstone trip. It's never really warm there at night.

    Winter Camping

This is a well timed thread. We just camped oven Thanksgiving weekend and rented a trailer for the warmth factor. I'm not a big fan of campers, I don't think it's really camping. The wife wants to rent another one for our trip to Yellowstone this spring. Maybe with a buddy heater I can talk her...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I just got back from the annual Thanksgiving Camping trip with the in laws. Every year we camp for 3 or 4 days on Washington States Pacific coast. Is usually cold a wet, but this year it was just cold. Usually we camp in a tent and take warm sleeping bags, this year on account of having two kids...

    Rear bumper + tire/gas carrier.

@Robert OB 33/48 I used the same part for my swing gate, essentially it's an axle from a small trailer. It has a 1.5" solid steel pin, two cartridge bearings and an outer race with a 2.25" outer diameter. I think it's rated for 2000lbs. If you visit atozfabrication.com they have it listed under...

    Awkward Message from Overland Bound:

I agree with @RescueRangers, I'm not a big forum guy, I like a lot about this online community, it's not dedicated to one make or model, no one is bashing other people's diy builds, everyone shares ideas and the common passion of vehicle based adventure by whatever means you have. A lot of that...

Where did you install your OB emblem?

Relocated my badge, used some spare hardware and my welder to fab up an Overland Bound center cap for my spare tire.

    storage and kitchen setup

Nice build, I bought two of those same lights for my jeep hatch, I haven't installed them yet though. I'm hoping two is enough for my needs.
