Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Greg,
Welcome to the NET. We don't care how you connect and what you use. You did fine on the etiquette and you will pick up some of the terms and rules per say as you listen and attend. Ask any questions you need. I use a Yaesu FT70 handheld and FTM 400 and FT 857 along with a Icom 7300...
Glad to have you. It's open topic week so if you have any questions please ask. We need more new hams to ask questions and get comfortable with their equipment. Brent KJ7BHN
Kent, welcome to the HAM radio check in. Please join us Fridays at 5:30pm PST on the NET. The details are in the Rally Point section and also a sticky on the first forum under Communications. Brent KJ7BHN
Don't miss this Friday Nights NET!!! We are going to have a special guest that I think everyone will enjoy. See Rally Point for details or first Sticky under Communications forum
I am looking at that radio for exact purpose. What antenna are you using? Make sure to attend the Friday Night NET's. The information is under the Rally Points and also a sticky on its own thread. Welcome to OB! Brent KJ7BHN
Back in the USA and catching up on everything. Make sure you attend the NET this Friday, we are going to have a guest speaker and should be a lot of fun. Next week topic is NEWBIE Net. Going full circle with first topic. A chance for all NEW Hams to ask questions, get on the air, get used to...
Jason. First get permission from repeater owner and codes to turn on echolink. If ok then you will be able to enter dmtf codes and have the repeater connect. Just remember that everyone listening on that repeater will be on our net ( which can be good) and nobody can use until you disconnect
Try talking to a local club and see if somebody would help. I did that and learned more from an Elmer in ten minutes then I did from reading books for hours. I also have Yaesu so I might be able to help. I have an FTM400 in my Earthcruiser and a FX70 Handheld.
Congrats. What do you have for equipment? Look at Echolink and download it on a computer or phone. Go thru process of setting it up which sounds confusing but not so much. If you have problems there is a boot camp article on how to do it. Once you get it up and running you can join the NET...
If you haven't been to expo in Leavenworth it's worth going. Keep an eye on rally points for meet ups in your area. Welcome to the forum from Olympia. Brent KJ7BHN
