Any VW Transporter Builds Out There.

I'm currently building my T6 Multivan 4Motion into an overlanding vehicle here in Tasmania. The picture is a "before" shot. I'm still in the final stages of fitting a snorkel and then it's off to Sydney to get a lift and bash plates.

Shipping vehicle from US to Europe

RE RORO and theft. I'm wondering the cost of taking all the loose stuff (tools, parts) as excess baggage when I fly to the destination would be less than the difference between the container and RORO. It might make customs clearance easier too as it is accompanied. Randall

If you move to a night other than Friday or Saturday (US Time), I'll probably be at work. If I'm working from home still that may not be too much of a problem unless I have work meetings at that time. Currently, your Sunday night would not work for me at all but with the change of seasons, the...

    West Coast Trip January 2021

I've just returned from a trip to Tasmania's west coast. Not an actual 4wd trip although there was plenty of dirt driving. The main focus was on boating, kayaking and bushwalking along a fairly inaccessible piece of the coastline around the Pieman River and Pieman Heads. The weather for 3 out of...

    AWD rigs

I suppose some might class my VW van as AWD, although in some ways it's technically not as to always drives at least one front wheel and 0-2 rear with the diff lock. There are so many places that these type of vehicles are perfectly adequate and in some cases, less weight can be an advantage.

Not your typical Overland Vehicle (pics)

Here is my 1990 RHD Lada Niva 1600. I still own this vehicle but haven't taken it out for a while. It's noisy and cantankerous but great fun.

    Resolved Campsite Data on Map

Sorry about the miscommunication. Your initial reply kind of got lost in other messages. "Most Southerly Vehicle Campsite in Australia" I entered the campsite as attached. Most details are OK except the grade is not "Very Hard". I was having connectivity issues at the time and didn't see the...

High vs low gear count transmissions

Interesting discussion. Single range transmissions with more gears particularly in European 4wd's is becoming more common. The VW Amarok, we get in Australia, has a single range 8 speed DSG/Auto transmission with wide-spaced gears whilst only the rare manual transmission models had a High/Low...
