OB Challenge Coins for our currently deployed members...

So...a day or so ago I saw the post "What is a Challenge Coin?" in the OB FAQ section. The post explained how they could be earned or bought. After I read the post...I happened to glance over at a care package I was putting together for a new friend of mine and an OB member, @Gnasher_PNW . He's...

Where did you install your OB emblem?

Thanks, here's a link to one of many dealers on ebay that sell them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Small-Compass-Sticker-Decal-Land-Rover-4x4-Off-Road-Navigation-Style-x-4-/161335171993?hash=item2590535b99:g:bhIAAOxy039TMIR0&vxp=mtr

    Dear Santa...

I believe there are several different companies making these...would be quite useful for mountain living...which is my plan.

    "Survival"/ gun questions.

Well...I'm a basic, "primitive skills" guy. We have 6 bug out locations...always good to have alternatives. All the locations picked are so far out, so well hidden, that we'd see you coming. In a SHTF situation...I go for simplicity. Revolvers...more powerful, less moving parts, easier...

    Snorkel, water.. Why?

I built my own for under $100.00. You can see more photos on page 19 of this section, under the heading, "Snorkel for under $100.00". It should have been posted in the DIY section...ooops. I put mine in mostly for dusty mountain fire roads and such. Noticed a slight increase in power as well.

Camping trip to North Fork on the Olympic Peninsula

Hey all... The family and I are heading to a remote area on the Olympic Peninsula. We'll be camping for 3 nights at a primitive camp ground about 17 miles along an non maintained fire road just past Queets, Washington. Near the river, small camping area... 9 spots. Been to this area...

    Awkward Message from Overland Bound:

When I first stumbled onto OB, I found this site to be a figurative breath of fresh air. Was so tired of vehicle specific sites or categorized sites. I love that this site, to paraphrase a popular racing quote, is a "Run what ya brung" site. People here are top notch and I have always had a...

Faa warns of GPS outages in the west.....

Agreed, we rely too much on technology at times. I do have a GPS, but always have maps and a compass available.

Thoughts and reasons for your chosen rig

I grew up overseas from age 4 to age 16. Overseas, Land Rovers are work horses, fleet vehicles, farm equipment, military rigs, sponsored expedition vehicles, etc... I do like the Lada Niva, awesome off roader...The Nissan Patrol, is cool too. I like the older 60's-70's Land Cruisers and of...

    So I heard a pop...

I agree, I think it would be extremely helpful....for example, say you broke or badly bent a wheel...I saw a a guy who took his wheel off, duct taped and ratchet strapped a 4 foot long 2x4 to his brake rotor and was able to drive down the mountain (slowly) to the trail head to call a tow...using...

    So I heard a pop...

OME...awesome! I run OME, never been disappointed. Great field repair, I think we need a forum for field repairs. I saw once where a Jeep guy had a bad spark plug wire in the middle of nowhere, it was badly split and not making a connection. He cut a small limb from a green bush, submerged it...

Recovery training is so important. I also keep a copy of the, "4x4 Owners Bible" by Jim Allen. It has an extensive and well written chapter on rcovery with tons of photo's and "how to" also great "Do's and Don't" section.
