Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
With the heavy storm damage this past winter, I am finding that many of the routes that were on my list to explore this summer are closed. The USDA Forest Service put up an interactive map that makes it very easy to check on our proposed route for possible closures. Many of the routes are...
For my 2007 Tacoma I purchased and installed one of these. http://www.armortechoffroad.com/2005-2015-Tacoma-Dual-Battery-Tray_p_2.html
I have had it in the truck for about a year now. So far no complaints.
Over the weekend I went exploring in the Stanislaus National Forest. My goal was to spend some time scoping out various possible camping spots for trips later in the summer. Some of you may already know this, but I was surprised by how many of the forest roads were still closed. At one of the...
I need to bow out. Sad to miss what would have been my first group event as an OB member. My son's little league team is undefeated and has a playoff game that Saturday. Looking forward to seeing photos of the rally.
For members in CA, this WFA class at the beginning of June might be of interest. http://www.4x4training.com/TrainingClinics/WFA.html. I took a two day beginning 4x4 class from this outfit last year and it was great.

With the firestik, when I was tuning mine I needed to make sure the fire ring connector had a good ground to the chassis of the truck. Without that I was also getting SWR readings all over the place. Once I got it grounded properly it tuned very nicely.
Spring in the Eastern Sierra is a great time to hunt for wild flowers while overlanding. I came across a great general resource book that people might enjoy. Here is the link.

I got a replacement window installed after a recent smash and grab.
I also finally put my OB badges on the Tacoma. It took me more than 9 months to do it.
Greetings from Livermore. Just returned from four days around Lone Pine and then into Death Valley. Looking to add a 2-3" lift, sliders, gas tank skid plate and some lights this spring.

For all the Tacoma and other mid-sized people out there, take a look at TruckVault (http://www.truckvault.com/index.php). They offer a weatherproof storage solution that looks very good. I don't have one yet for my Taco, but it is on my list. I would love to hear from anyone with experience...
I am interested in having a custom deck/lid/tonneau built to cover the bed of my Tacoma. Can anyone recommend a metal fabricator in Livermore or elsewhere in the Tri-Valley area?
Cheers

This area looks fantastic. In case others, like me, were thinking of heading up there soon, it looks like there is a seasonal closure of dirt roads in the area. I wasn't aware that the Forest Service did this. http://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/eldorado/alerts-notices/?aid=38020
If you like a mix of overlanding and some tourist stuff, the area around Barstow CA is nice. Look at Owl Canyon Campground, Rainbow Canyon for some cool geologic formations and then the "ghost town" of Calico for some tourist entertainment.
Hi,
I am trying to log into the site (tried both from work machine and from mobile phone) and am seeing this error. It does not seem to be IP address related. My attempts have been via wifi and cellular connections.
Any ideas?
