Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Next meet is 09/08/18 at Hard 8 in the colony.
This thread discussed the recent August one.

No it is not mandatory. There are two fuel stations in the park, (Panther Junction & Rio Grande Village), and there will always be someone who will bail you out. But it is certainly a good idea, since if you are going all over the park, you will burn a lot of fuel. I went the same date last...

I didn't say don't go, I said do not drive a target rich POV, unless you are OK with losing it, and have a plan for your kid and self when bad things happen.
Also, memorize the phone number for the US Embassy & Consulates. This alone will get you on the fast track when things go south and...
Question 1: Any tips for border crossing from Texas to Mexico? Make sure their are no weapons of any kind in your vehicle, Not even a spent cartridge, or even a hint of firearms (like a decal on window). Obviously have all your papers.
Question 2: Our Jeep (like most decked out overlanding...
Those are not FRS/GMRS radios. And yes, I know you can program them into non-FRS/GMRS devices. I have done it in all of mine.
If that happens, OB can clarify what channel to use.
You seem to be trying so hard to make something so simple, incredibly hard. Why is that? If you have a HAM/GMRS...
Again, nobody programs frequencies into FRS/GMRS radio. It is channel oriented like CB.
I thought it was obvious HAM/GMRS required licenses and CB/FRS did not. Maybe some folks did not know this, so yeah folks should know if they buy a HAM/GMRS radio they will need a license. If they buy...
Stop with the frequencies. You cannot program frequencies into an FRS/GMRS radio. FRS/GMRS are channel oriented. OB is recommending GMRS 15. I am recommending you use FRS channel 15 if you do not have GMRS.
And it is FRS not FSR.
That depends upon the radio you are using.
You are overthinking this. FRS does not require a license, if you do not want to get HAM or GMRS license, get a CB or FRS radio.
Not sure how you came up with that. From YOUR link:
The FRS is authorized 22 channels in the 462 MHz and 467 MHz range, all of which are shared with GMRS
For folks that do not know, FRS/GMRS was re-banded last year. They now share the same channels.
I am not Kenneth, so I do not know the frequency.
I do know if I turn my FRS radio to channel 15, I will hear OB folks using GMRS 15.
So to answer your question, FRS folks should use FRS 15.
