Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Since you are already using CHIRP, all these freqs are already in the program.
You go to the upper left hit file, then open stock config. Select the frequency list you want and click it. It will open a separate sheet for the selected config. Then just copy and paste the frequencies you want...
Also don't forget to check if the port is switched or not. As in if the port stays powered with the truck off or not. Some truck have secondary cig ports that are not switched and stay powered with the key out / truck off. Could make for a little surprise if you don't check.

If you are not ground camping / on foot and not a slob. Just put stuff away and you will be fine
Have bears broken into vehicles? Yes
Does it happen often? No, despite what the internet says

For all your programming and deprogramming needs you need to be using CHIRP. Doing it on the radio is usually not fun or fast. Be aware that the blister pack radios do not support computer programming.
I can recommend the Tidradios, I have and use both the GMRS and HAM version. They are easy...
Personally I just use a rubbermaid folding table that I keep in the back on my truck. I have never really understood the ones that are attached to the truck, they leave you tethered to the vehicle. I like to take the table to where we are, like near the fire, the picnic table or the beach etc...
And I never said that you did tell him to buy an expensive radio. Only that the people that always say inexpensive radios are garbage usually sell expensive radios
Shawn
That's because the people selling $300 GMRS radios don't want people to know that the $300 does what the $25 dollar radio does. As long as they are programmed to the same frequencies, the same codes, and bandwidth they with interoperate.
The reality is if you are not a "radio" guy and only use...
Some form of nav.
If you dont know how to get there, you sure a heck cant get back. And if you dont know where you are or how to get back all the mods in the world wont help you

Future proof yourself if you can swing it. The better the specs you buy the longer the device will be useful and able to run apps and programs that will come out in the future. I can almost guarantee you have never said to yourself, "damn I wish this device was slower or had less storage". Not...
I just switched to quad lock heads with ram mount arms and mounts. I just like how clean the quad lock head are compared to ram etc with arms all over the place. So far I love it . I am using the Qi quadlock head, with the vibration isolator, because why not?, on a 4 inch ram arm on the dash of...
You need sat communications for emergencies. Which ever brand you choose is up to you, but radios are near useless for this.
Radios are only useful in an emergency if you can reach the station your are calling and there is someone actually listening when you call. If you do actually reach...
You may have some issues with some of the Chinese radios being wide band vs narrow band, while domestic radios are the other way. IIRC.
If they dont talk to each other you can usually change the bandwidth via programming on the chinese radios

These ones work good:
The weight of the roll tensions it against the mounting surface. Any of the hinged ones are good, if you need more tension than the weight of the paper towel has just hang off the holder to weight it down more. Or I have in the past used a piece of hose or pipe that fits...
There are, but the sad hams dont like you to talk about them
They are not legal, but you will never have an issue there has never been a single person fined by the FCC, in their entire history, for using a no complying radio for personal use. The only fines that has ever been given out are to...
