Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
A friend of mine recently switched from softshell RTT to a walled canopy attached to his roof rack, and he's said he prefers the RTT.
I still think RTT is an awesome option for many reasons, especially the hard shell version. If I ever buy an RTT, I would want it to be a hard shell.
The...
Cot tent.
Has the benefit of being up off the ground like an RTT and comfy like a camp cot, but weighs a fraction of what an RTT weighs, is more compact, and only cost me $50 Canuck bucks on sale.
Do they make a lift kit for it? I suggest a 2" lift and the biggest A/T tires that lift will let you fit without issues. Then maybe a winch bumper/winch. Then of course get yourself some good recovery kit, as it looks like you have some rated recovery points from the factory. Those mods alone...
Hey, welcome aboard! Awesome to see someone else from Northern BC. Judging by your name, you're not far from me. I did the Telkwa Pass this past summer and it was fantastic. Shoot me a PM anytime if you want a wheeling partner!
My current kitchen setup:
The kitchen unit is the Woods camp kitchen. Behind it on the right is the Plano case that holds all the kitchen utensils, coffee, dry snacks etc. The table in the foreground is the CR-V table.
Wow, yeah, a water pump failure after 20,000 miles is just ridiculous, as are brakes that aren't up to the established basic standard!. Hopefully they correct these issues with subsequent model years of the vehicle. That's a bummer.
That's one thing about the RD1 - the newest example is now 20...
By the way, I'm curious to know in what respect the bronco sport is unreliable. It seemed appealing to me, almost like a spiritual successor to the RD1 CR-V, although I would lean more toward the big bronco I think.
Mitsubishi Delica is a legend when it comes to efficient, smallish off road vans. They are excellent off road, very comfy and versatile and lend themselves well to overlanding. They are also very reliable and sturdy.
They do come with some significant drawbacks, unfortunately, namely:
1. They...
There's a word for a lady who owns her own jeep and comes wheeling/overlanding with you: Keeper! :D Great shots. Colorado reminds me a lot of several places in BC. Gorgeous scenery.
Yep, 1999 Honda CR-V, the first generation. Fun fact, Land Rover had a hand in the design process, as Honda and Land Rover were partners at the time.
Mine has a 2" lift and is running 235/75/15's. The roof rack is my own design and build from extruded aluminum, the wind faring is also my build...
Wobbly sketcheroo scissor jack my car came with!
j/k, I chucked that pile of crap. I use a 12 ton multi directional bottle jack, similar to the one Mike W pictured.
