Overlanding / car camping. Who cares just get out and do it. I myself call it Overlanding when it is a trip of 2 weeks plus with backcountry adventure. I say I'm camping when it's for an overnight or longer. And to me it's just an off-road excursion if it's only for a day. But that's just me an...
This overcompression, do you have a load in the car or is it empty? Even the ralli trek springs are sprung heavier than stock. That might lead to the harsh (hard) compression. Add some weight and see. Heavier duty struts might help to smooth it out. Mine is very stiff when unloaded but with the...
I had them on a 2wheel drive Dodge Dakota and the only problem on hard packed snow was the lack of weight on the rear tires. Add some snow or gear in the back and no problems. On my Bronco II I had no problems what so ever and that was the vehicle we used for ski trips for years.
I never had trouble with the ko2s. Handled everything great. Just thought I’d try a different tire this time around. Living in the Pacific Northwest we get a lot of rain and snow.
Bumpers and RTT have taken a toll on the mileage. On the trip, 6,300 miles, I averaged 22.7. But that is with about 1,300 of those as gravel, dirt and mud.
The Dempster is a pretty easy road. Very muddy when it rains with washboards. Easily to do in a stock Outback. My lift and springs helped...
After my adventure to Tuktoyaktuk, NWT, Canada up the Dempster the tires were very tired (pun intended). So I ordered new wheels and tires. KMC wheels with 38mm offset and 245-65?17Fallen Wildpeak AT's.
Day 5 kept heading north to Watson Lake and the Sign Post Forest. Turned north on Highway 4, The John Cambell Highway to the next camp site up near Ross River.
I'm driving a 2017 Subaru Outback (post 182). Recent adventures include a just finished adventure to Tuktoyaktuk, NWT, Canada and the Arctic Ocean (post 171). Still posting photos from that. Did section 1 of WABDR 2 weeks later.
Day 4 was a rainy mess. Waking up to rain drops on the RTT it was quick morning breakfast and pack then off to Fort Nelson. It rained the entire day and it was decided that a room might one a good idea as everywhere we stopped it was a muddy mess. Made a reservation at a place next to Muncho...
Day 3 was a short drive from Crooked River camp to Dawson City visiting the Alaska Hwy museum, get the photo at the start of the Alaska Hwy and to camp next to and see the historic Kiskatinaw River Bridge. This is a short side trip off the Highway to see and drive across the curved wooden...
Day 2 started off early. Headed through Prince George then along the beautiful John Hart Highway, Canada 97, stopping at the oldest home in the region, the Huble Homestead Historic Park. The house is a typical Ontario farmhouse built in 1911. Also the park consists of a General Store, Post...
