    Mendocino Nat'l Forest, California

Great report! I've done many many trips to MNF but never this one. I don't think there is a way through from French Ridge over towards Letts Lake. All of those roads are either blocked by private property or are washed out/overgrown.

Too simple to sleep in my 5th Gen 4Runner?

@SAFETYRUNNER Thanks for the idea! I've been thinking about this since you mentioned it. Friday night I looked around on Amazon and found one I figured would work out well. It arrived at 8:00 this (Sunday) morning! I think it turned out pretty well for almost zero effort!

    Stickers

Me too! I started out with the Sackware Toyota, Land Rover, and Jeep stickers along the back edge of the tailgate. Recently Ive been collecting the signs of interesting or scenic highways I've traversed most or all of. ...ok, I haven't done Hwy 4 just yet. I ordered the 2in highway signs...

    Trail Routes

Another cool tool for routes is Scribble Maps!: https://www.scribblemaps.com/ It allows you to draw a route over Google Maps and then export it to your GPS device.

    Moderate GX470 build suggestions

I think you forgot tough off-road tires, which would be my number one recommendation. Also, I'd wait 'n see about the front bumper and winch kind of things. I'm not sure you're really going to need them. They'll cost and weigh a lot.

    Trail Routes

Paved roads are a 100% acceptable form of exploration! If its new to you its still exploring, regardless of road surface. Its just like your vehicle, 'run what you brung'. Go places you can and to what's available to you. This is about going places- and new places that are out doors that are...
