Since I am new to these kind of runs...what do you typically use for communication? CB? FRS radios? All I have is an FRS radio. Actually now that I think about it I might have an old handheld CB radio in my closet....but assuming it doesn't work can one get by without a CB?

And on the practical side I need to learn how to get unstuck. Should be a great opportunity to learn.

LOL I don't care who pulls me out when I get stuck just need someone to get me out so my kid can still have a Dad! :-) Anyone know how much snow they have gotten up there on the way to UTC?

Sounds good. I will cancel my reservations today. Like I said above I don't think I can do February, but when ever you reschedule for I will do my best to get back in for this trip. The route and scenery looks great! Will continue to monitor this thread. Thank again

Still hoping I can swing it with the gf to make this run. Need to start working on her this week as I know she has plans for me this weekend. Will keep watching this thread and hoping the weather cooperates and drops more snow not rain up there this week.

If you are familiar with the area, and you are not confident the route is good and safe to pass I would agree with you on postponing the trip. I will go ahead and cancel the current reservations I have for Jan 20 and 21. I unfortunately can't do February as I am already planning a trip to Death...

Very cool! My daughter and I saw a small pack run across the road on our way up to Virginia City years and years ago.....but she was real young then and doesn't remember much of it. Hoping we run across a bunch this time.
