Thank you for your service, and welcome to OB! I'm excited to see your Land Cruiser come together. I wish I was good at welding so I could restore an old military trailer.
We can't wait to pick a custom URL so we can stop handing out this long link, but here's our brand new channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOjvVW3RS3cagDiht5xcUgQ (please subscribe!)
And here is our newest episode about our trip to the TWAT two weekends ago:
While on the Daniel Boone Backcountry Bypass in Kentucky, we yielded to a few oncoming vehicles and realized we didn't have a definitive answer as to who has the right of way in these situations. One of the other guys in our group said that the convoy with the most people gets the right of way...
The heat doesn't work well in my vehicle which just exacerbates things, but this sounds like a solid plan.
I'm actually kind of surprised to see that the temperatures in the most northern part of your loop are higher than what we experienced only 9 days ago in Wisconsin. In my head, it has to...
So, we went cold camping (-6 degrees Fahrenheit) up in Wisconsin two weekends ago and ran into a problem that we weren't exactly prepared for. All of our liquids froze (water, other drinks, canned soups, etc) which makes perfect sense in hindsight, but I wasn't prepared to deal with a 6 gallon...
Hey Aaron, welcome! What part of "upstate NY" do you live? I used to live in the Hudson Valley which we never considered to be be "upstate" but everyone south of Yonkers did. lol
Welcome! This forum has a great wealth of information and plenty of fellow overlanders who are willing to answer any questions you might have. I've really been enjoying my time in this community and have met some really cool people thanks to this site!
Thanks for the follow! We should end up in Oregon by late May. We'll be uploading as close to daily as possible once the trip starts so it should be easy to know exactly when we'll get there.
Second time down there, 7 hours each direction, and a total blast every time! What a random way to run into people you've only met one other time and in the same exact place. Had a great weekend in Kentucky, and a great time Saturday running the trails with everyone! Video on our channel soon.
Started a Youtube channel and will be doing as-close-as-possible-to-daily uploads during the trip, and we'll also be tracking ourselves so that we can compile and provide an "overland" route, which doesn't seem to exist currently. We're basically using our website to document the entire thing...
Been a steady build for the past 7 or 8 months. Gearing up for a six week coast to coast overlanding trip via the Trans America Trail. Almost where it needs to be!
Watched every one of your vlogs, binge watching on some days, from beginning to end. Your story-telling and production style is very engaging, and I'll be taking a page from your book for our channel as well. Nice work, good luck with the move, and I'll be looking forward to future uploads!
Thought some of you Jeep lovers might get a kick out of the Tshirt design we just posted on Amazon. Had a little fun with the "Trail Rated" badge, as we all know, Jeeps are not the fastest vehicles on the road. But, we love 'em anyway! 100% mud-absorbing material, keeping you somewhat clean...
