I don't have my FTM400XDR yet, but I do have a handheld Baofeng UV82HP. I have an external antenna mounted on my Jeep. The Baofeng works fine but I do find it a little difficult using it mobile. It's fine if you just set it to one channel and use a handheld speaker/mic, but it is hard to see...
How did you mount the chassis? I've been looking at this for an under seat option :

I hear you, I chose d) all of the above...haha!
I have a mic mount on the grab handle with a ram ball on the side of it for a passenger phone mount.
Everything else is on the vector dock using ram mounts, tablet, Inreach, gopro...etc.
You could also go with one of these mounts, it's a pretty slick setup.

My two cents, YMMV and all that...
I had a Gobi rack on my JK and while it was capable, it did add a certain amount of noise and a noticeable 1-1.5 MPG drop even when empty as I take the RTT off when we aren't using it. Also, under heavy loads even when adjusted properly it can move around a...
Well this is the update from HRO, looks like it's going to be awhile:
"we are still waiting on Yaesu to catch up to sales . We currently have over 300 units on back order and 1300 on order. Last check Yaesu claimed mid Feb for the first wave"
When I ordered mine it said it would be handled by the Burbank, CA store so I guess whatever HRO store is closest to your ship-to location is where it comes from? I'll hit them up in a couple days if I haven't seen any more order updates from them.
My license appeared in the database much more quickly then I expected and HRO charged my card for the FTM-400XDR this morning, it's turning out to be a pretty good day! haha!
I passed my Technician test this weekend and ordered up an FTM-400XDR to get in on the sale! Thanks for the heads up!
Of course, with the current backlog of apparently 18,000 licenses to be processed thanks to the Govt shutdown, it's probably going to be a few weeks before I can get on the...
The horizontal beam pattern is pretty typical for a true fog light, a wide beam close up and low to the ground. If you are a looking for more distance then go with a driving light but also know that in most states you are only supposed to run them with your high beams as the will blind oncoming...
I have the amber version on my Jeep and they work well for me in the fog. They were a drop in replacement for the Jeep fog lights. I've had them for about a year and have zero complaints.
I'm about to to install the Rhino Rack on my JK. I want to be able to move our RTT from the trailer to the Jeep fairly easily so I am working on a solution which may incorporate the Frontrunner quick release RTT mounts on the Jeep side.
Pricey, but a friend of mine has them and they work well...
I would avoid the NL system, they don't like the heat. Many threads on Expedition Portal regarding them failing, including the one I started. You'd be much be off with a Blue Sea 7622 ML-ACR which will do the same thing as the NL.
Sorry, tried to link it on Amazon but it's not working...
