I just finished this trailer and kept mine low. My tent is at my head level so I can deploy it from the ground. I had a RTT on top a rig and hated it. Yes you have to bend a little to go under it but I put the kitchen on the other side of the trailer.
Factory built trailers are built for weight and size. Meaning a 4x8 trailer will not be produced with a 3500 pound axle under it. It will be rated with a 2k or less axle and small tires. A 6x12 trailer wil usually be built with a angle iron frame with plank decking and could have a single or two...
Are bearing replaceable? Are they a odd size that is very hard to find ? Did they get run so much without maintenance that they ran grooves into the spindles and now the axle needs replaced. I have been around a lot of trailers used in lots of ways. Livestock, agriculture, personal utility...
The front is about 50 pounds and the rear is a bit lighter. Currently without the tent. My tongue weight is 135 pounds. The trailer before the rack is about 500 pounds. The steel rack is about 300 pounds. The boxes are 100 pounds together. Tent is 200 pounded and the the rest of the gear. I will...
For me. One of the biggest deals on trailers is the axle. You wouldn’t want a trailer with odd sized or undersized axle or bolt pattern. I think it’s important to be able to find parts if you have a break down. This may be a good deal or it may be a complete rebuild of everything. Tires will...
Little more work. Built my propane tank holder. Mounted the rear box and finished the drop table and door that’s on the passenger side. I have the ability for 4 water jugs. My front box and tent will be here Monday. Need to mount a battery and that’s it. I am very happy with it at this point.
The uprights are cut at 35 inches and the 2 inch on top for 37 inches off the deck. The trailer deck is 28 inches with the 31 ish inch tires. Puts the RTT at just over five feet. This is right at head level and you can reach it from the ground. I have had a RTT before mounted on top a rig and it...
Little more work. Building the rack for the RTT. 2 inch square tube. One side will have a hinged table. The other will have a door to access under the tent.
Deck is on. Work is going to be on hold for a couple weeks while I have a Overland trip into the Cascade Mountains. After I will build the rack for the RTT.
This is going to stay pretty simple. I will deck it with herculined plywood. I am building a rack about 36 inches high to accept a Rtt. I am adding a truck box across the front and rear. A 20 gal water tank in the middle and leaving the middle open under the tent for outside stuff.
I started a new trailer build. I have owned lots of trailers in my years including RVs. I wanted a 4x8 but with large tires. The plan is a RTT. I have built trailers from scratch and taken factory trailers and modified them. This is kind of both. I started with a HF trailer for 2 reasons. Price...
We might see you on the trail. We will be making a camping loop from our place down to St Joe. Then around to Thompson falls area and coming into the backside of Pend Oreille lake area.

App. I think I did it. Limits 50 invites though. So I sent it out as a general invite. Spokane is the 2nd largest city in Washington so I would hope to believe there are people with this interest. I was a Jeeper for over 30 years and hosted a lot of trail runs meetups and vehicle shows until...
