What mileage did you purchase your rig?

This is great to hear about the longevity of our rigs! Gives me high hopes about big numbers in the future and possibly future builds!! With a growing family, I'm going to have to look at more space so I'm happy to hear that some high mileage vehicles can still be made to have fun.

Overlanding lessons learned the hard way

If you can hear the alligator chirping....they are closer than you think....if you hear them grunting... you don't want to get into the water. Found this out one day when my younger brother and I went out on a trail in the everglades after a not-too-heavy rain storm. From that point on, I had a...

What mileage did you purchase your rig?

At what mileage did you purchase your current overlanding rig? Has it held up? Any rebuilds? I bought my truck new in 2017 with 6 miles on it. Currently sitting at 73K miles with about 10-15 of those being for travel/camping/overlanding.

    On the beach

Can you drive on the sand in any beach there in St Aug? Thinking about heading that direction in a couple weeks and would be cool to drive close to the water.

Where do you go when summer hits the Southeast

I live all the way down in South Florida so I completely understand.... humidity is a daily thing here. Even beach camping gets wayyy hot and crowded sometimes. The sell these little fans for the tents and if I do go beach camping I load up on about 3 or 4 fans per tent....I'm not a fan of being...

    Full size rig mods

BuiltRight has some good products designed for various uses but they are just now finally branching off into different manufacturers. They used to be strictly Ford but have begun making products for Ram and Toyota. I'm still waiting for them to actually start selling for Chevy/GM trucks.

    Daily driver ?

Yeah....times are way too expensive to have separate vehicles for separate things.....my pickup is my DD and, when I don't want to drive my wife's car, the family vehicle. Maybe one day I'll buy abother family vehicle and my pickup will be the play/work vehicle.

    If you could start over...

I love my silverado so I'd probably stay with a pickup style but I'd protect up going with either a Pro Tacoma or the ZR2 Colorado.....or if not, a Lexus GX (not a pickup but very stylish)

    Star Gazing

I'm on a short two month trip to north central Texas and was actually contemplating something like this. Bend is more than a couple hours away from me though and not knowing the area kinda makes me apprehensive about it. I am looking for sites up here though and into Oklahoma or even New Mexico.

    Anyone jog?

How about a portable shower? They're pretty cheap and can be found anywhere where camping supplies are sold. You could go all out and get a "mack daddy" shower but a simple one should only be a couple of bucks. As for the wet/sweaty clothes....why not hang them for a bit or leave them on the...

    Which would be better

If you are going to spend your time working on it from home, definitely go with the Macbook. It has many more options to use for editing. If you are going to be doing it on the move, go with the iPad. I use a iPad Pro for work and it definitely is nice but does lack some of the extra features...

    Low budget...ideas for mods?

Offerup, LetGo, Goodwill, Ebay, Craigslist, yard sales, trash bins...sometimes you get lucky....just be ready to jump when the deal presents itself. You'd also be amazed how reliable and durable wood can be too. Check out some videos on youtube for making some of the most sought after stuff.

    What is it with axes?

I think it depends on where you live. I've lived in California, Texas and Florida and I never needed a full size axe. I always had a nice camping axe, a machete, a wedge and a weighted hammer with me and that worked for everything I needed. I could see possibly needing one up north where the...

    Who's more annoying?

Couldn't agree more! Just happened to me a couple days ago while driving through the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas. I was there driving the bends at the proposed speed limit and on one blind curve, there comes this guy going too fast and trying to hug the wall because he's about to veer off...
