to be honest a TJ is smaller inside than most "small" vehicles I have a compass that I have for longer trips and daily driving but I would still consider it bigger than my LJ, same with the patriot i had before it. of course its all relative. I do feel that a TJ in stock form would be a small...
I am getting ready to tear the suspension out of mine and rebuild, and I need to patch a hole in my floor and start building a roof rack so that I can load the whole family in for trips and actually be able to use my back seat ( which has been pulled out for about 7 years). Winter I usually...
It used to be more passable with standard rigs but has seen a lot of traffic and some of the trails have gotten really rutted out. I remember taking a 4 runner through with our group 2 years ago, and have seen Tacoma's in there recently but they are being pushed to the limit of their...
Ya I am hoping we can get out the do those sections. We hiked the la cloche silhouette trail in Killarney a few years ago and got some great views there too. I can only imaging how much better sleeping giant is, I have been looking at it for years but never had the time to go there.
By the way...
I do my best to try to direct everyone to the OF4WD ( Ontario Federation of 4 Wheel Drive, sort of our local version of tread lightly). The shop I work at offers discounts to members and we sponsor many events. We do our best to get he word out and make sure that the trails we use stay open...
The biggest issue local to me is misinformation. The EDUCATION aspect is huge. I wish there was a way to get the word out to everyone ( including people not directly tied to our specific type of off roading ) to check for private land, don't make it a point to destroy the trails and pick up...
I'm looking to get my son involved at a really early age. My wife and I will be taking him on his first camping trip in may and he will be about 6 months old by then. My wife isn't as much into the vehicle side of things as I am but I am hoping that in the next year or so I can get them both...
I pack sleeping bags an wool blankets. most of the time the wool stays down by our feet but if it gets cold we can pull it up. I've camped like this well below 0 degrees
take your pick. I have more pics in the vault if you want LOL
( I actually get to use a picture of my own rid this time!)
lets see your rigs camp setup!
Ya I know. I am trying to plan for later in the year. My Jeep is going to get torn apart soon and rebuilt and may 24 weekend wife and I are taking our ( what will be 6 month old by then) new family member camping for his first time lol. I want to get both if them (wife and baby) a little more...
My Jeep is going under the knife soon and should be build back up by spring. I may take a run out early in the year as soon as the snow is gone. I have rune the trail from black lake back to the 124 and back in a bit, for a few camp spots that were nice. I havn't really explored the north...
I know this is a dead thread but I want to bring it back. Who is heading to Argdbeg and when this year? I may be looking for someone to go explore the area with ( south trail).
PS. I have been out there a few times but looking to do some better mapping of the area.
I have been using Plano cases for probably 4-5 years now. have held up great. Before them I just used whatever Rubbermaid and old toolboxes I had laying around...
It has been a long term project over the last 8 years. My wife and I do a lot of camping ( maybe not as much as some people get out but usually about 1 weekend a month at least) so the original plan was to build it to get to camp sites, then we got more into hiking and it took more of a rock...
Ha ha ya it took a long time. I had to hose off what I could once I got back into town, that trip cost me 2 rear shocks, my rear locker wiring, a steering box and a u-joint. After that the mud was the least of my worries lol.
Ha ha ya they are pricey. Smittybilt has a cheaper option but it's still kinda up there. I got mine with store discounts on manufacture year end blow out deal so I would have been crazy not to lol. 3 of us at the shop ended up buying them. They work quick and that's the main reason I got it...
