    Beginning a build

Well, someone I respect once said “You have no right to your opinion.” He was talking about people with very little experience arguing with people with a lot of experience. I’m the inexperienced one here - and I mean that with utmost sincerity. David and NCTaco90, a Kobalt inflator and a...

    Beginning a build

Okay, maybe I was being a little simplistic. Or maybe I wasn’t. I agree with Smileyshaun, but I stand by my advice as well. Your actions will be based on the balance you feel comfortable with between your priorities and your budget. Your priorities should be determined by informed foresight...

    Emergency jump starter advice

Most recent 20 reviews on Amazon - DRUM ROLL PLEASE - Fifteen five-star reviews, four one-star reviews. (One two-star.) Thanks to all of you for your advice and council, but I am officially done looking for one of these. I’ll just be careful with my battery.

    Emergency jump starter advice

Thanks, I do appreciate it, but this is classic! Two reviews on the MatCo site - one says it never fails and the other says it’s defective. What’s with these things? I think the issue is like with a lot of products these days. Good design, poor quality control in production. What a world.

    Legal Weapons and Overlanding

You are asking a very broad question and getting responses from all over. I have had my California concealed carry permit for over 30 years. To answer your question, yes, I carry when camping and overlanding, but I am careful to know the laws where I am traveling. The truth is that you are...

Thank you for that thought. I’ll keep it in mind.

    Emergency jump starter advice

I have been looking, sometimes seriously, sometimes casually, for what seems like years, for an emergency jump starter. I don’t need a compressor or accessories, really, just a backup jumpstarter. Problem is, it seems like every one out there gets multiple great reviews interspersed with a few...

    bears

I tend to agree with slomatt based on my experience as well as that of my many friends with whom I’ve spoken about this issue. However, one frequently hears that in established campgrounds bears will tear vehicles apart that have food in them, so I never leave food in the vehicle. I’d rather...

RTT or ground tent & why

I’ve never used a RTT so I’m no authority. I’ve also never had something bad happen while I’m camping, but I do try to be ready. Part of the readiness for me is that if something bad does happen I can just drive away.

    Locking tools

I have been using Quick Fists for some time to hold my shovel and Pulaski, but they really aren’t designed to hold up to all the dang brush I wind up plowing through and eventually they rip apart. I would like to replace them with something more durable, and while I’m at it, wondering about...

    Recovery Gear Poll

I’m not saying a winch is a bad thing. It’s not. I want a winch. And I notice that people with winches tend to get in to situations where they need a winch. So it’s farther down my list than many other things.

    Garbage transportation

I use a dry bag from Sportsman’s Guide. Because of the roll-top sealing the smell is reduced, although I do not put it inside the vehicle.

    Outstanding RAM mount for Tacoma

I am REALLY happy with how I mounted my phone and I want to share it with you. It’s a crappy video, sorry, but don’t judge the end result by the that. If you’ve got a Tacoma you should give it a look. Let me know what you think. Thanks

Where did you install your OB emblem?

I love my Tacoma, but the fine folks at Toyota must really have an aversion to flat surfaces. So after several days of contemplation, mine’s on the rear window.

Member Introductions *NEW MEMBERS INTRODUCE YOURSELF*

Greetings! I’m Rob. I’m from Sonora CA and I’m glad to be on board. I may not even have enough experience to call myself a novice! But I’m here now and ready to go. I’ve got a 2016 Tacoma with a few mods that make it a pretty capable ride and I’ve got some gear to get me out there for some...
