I'm just using g skills I have picked up along the way to get a paycheck lol. I don't have full range of motion in my right wrist, due to a previously dislocated/broken elbow at a younger age that never healed right. I haveLmost no cartelidge left in my hand from added pressure over the years...
Thank you. It looks much nicer from the outside lol. The inside I'm pretty sure hadn't been cleaned it 30 years. The amount of cob webs and dust everywhere was impressive, and sooooo much wallpaper that had to come down. There was also a chimney fire so the roof needs repairs, and the wood...
Well I haven't been on here for a while, nothing has been done to the jeep but I am hoping that I can change that soon. We were finally able to get a house of our own, and as an added bonus it has a heated 2 car garage! It needs some work so we haven't moved in yet, but this will give me a place...
I don't remember the last time I saw a milk "jug" in a store. I guess I could use orange juice jugs or something but I really don't drink much else other than water, coffee and beer lol. I have thrown a few frozen water bottles into the mix but they don't last as long as a big chunk of ice.
Hey another LJ! Lol my original.plan for mine was an overland build but then I hung out with too many rock crawlers and.. well ... now it's not a vehicle most would consider an overlander lol.
I have a 1-1/2 year old that we have been taking camping since about 4 months old. He has more stuff than we do ( including his own camp chair.) Our tent is big enough that we have it split into his side with the portable crib, all his toys and cloths and stuff, and our side with our air...
I'm not saying that beadlocks break axles but the added traction mixed with an apparent heavy foot could do the trick. OP hasn't stated what vehicle, or terrain or why they need beadlocks because they are an "aggressive driver".
I 100% agree that usually an breakage is caused by a weak link...
Are you spinning the tires off the wheel? I would love beadlocks on my rig but the axles would likely cry lol. I am a fairly aggressive driver and run 6-8 psi max off road with out beadlocks. Also I would rather repair a blow out on the trail than a broken axle. But maybe I am not as hard on...
This looks great! Very similar to what I have floating around in my head. So far life has got in the way of my building anything yet but I am hoping that in the next couple months things will level out.
Most of my gear doubles as backpacking gear so it all packs up pretty tight. I keep a:
1) Good cooler with me
2) a tote full of tools and spare parts ( when I am driving my rock crawler, if I am driving my daily than most of the tools stay home)
3) a tote full of cooking gear (again depending...
I loved Death Valley and Bryce Canyon when I went up that way. lots of hiking trails ( if you are into hiking) and way different terrain than I am used to ( I don't live anywhere near deserts).
I would love to take a trip to Alaska, BC, Alberta, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador...
I hate rust. It's a never ending battle for me. I work in a steel warehouse and during the winter we can transport material ( oil coated and tarped) from one warehouse to another about an hour away and by the time it gets there its rusting. most of my area is heavy sand and salt combo in the...
I second the Gransfors Bruks axes. they are incredibly sharp right out of the gate and they have many options to choose from that have different handle length and head sizes.
Man I love this build. I wish I could get my hands on a decent Grand Cherokee these days but they're all rusted out around here, and my wife may kill me if I started another project lol.
Also I know it doesn't look like a typical "overland" vehicle but in these pictures it has 2 sleeping accomodations, tarps for poor weather, tools and spares for myself and a clue others, food, water, and en extra tank of gas.
what type of terrain do you tend to see more? rocks? mud? water? sand? how much weight do you carry? I have been through many suspensions, but my needs will differ from yours.
I have found that I like Synergy progressive rate springs for load and comfort, but if you go with them , order a 1"...
I am thinking of doing an outer hoop of 2x1x.125 in case it clips a tree it should still stay solid, and may go as low as 1x1x.083 square tube for the inner cross bars. That should keep the weight down significantly. The Jeep itself if more geared to rock crawling but I am working on making it a...
