I thing that applies more to those out hiking in areas that are considered "untouched wilderness" than those travelling in a vehicle. Anywhere we camp already has to have a track leading to it and a clearing big enough to park a vehicle, set a tent etc.. so our job is taking care of that area...
Sorry for potentially opening up a can of worms with my question. I was merely trying to get an understanding of a cultural difference between our countries and all the responses have been informative of people's reasons to either carry or not carry without descending into anything unsavoury.
I have seen that sort of set up quite a bit here and it would be easy and cheap to build if you are ok with it being gravity fed however I would be very hesitant about carrying a large amount of water in a long pipe on your roof, it would be ok when it is full but when some water is taken out it...
I'm more sad than anyone to see the Defender go but unfortunately I feel LR were caught between a rock and a hard place. They had not turned a profit from them for years and they no longer comply with european safety standards which means their already limited market is further impaired. They...
I agree, treading lightly on trails is very important, you should always make an effort to leave an area better than you found it. This comes down to everything like taking your own rubbish out and picking up others, picking lines carefully and not just digging up the track with your tyres...
I have never used the Duratracs but have heard the same thing a few times that they are great tires, especially off road but they have a weak sidewall which lets them down as they are prone to puncture. On the other hand the KO2s probably aren't as good off road and I have heard people say that...
Definitely side slopes, I normally carry stuff on my roof so am quite top heavy and I worry any time I start to lean a bit. Mud I can handle because you can always recover the vehicle (unless it is a race against time before the tide comes in in which case that would be pretty bad) but if you...
I hope this doesn't come across in the wrong way but over in Aus we have a very different culture with firearms and I'm just curious why you take them camping? Is there a credible chance of needing them for protection from bears in many areas?
Just to clarify I have no problem with firearms and...
I just added a steering guard by APT Fabrications, here is a before and after.
Before, all that is protecting the steering arm is a small bar.
After, bash plate attached
Where is that? You say it's across from Phillip Island so I'm guessing it's on the Western Port side of the peninsula but I don't recognise the location in the pics.
I headed down to the beach this morning with my dog and got some beach driving in.
Apparently cars aren't the only vehicles that use this beach, I ran into these aircraft near the end of the beach
Today I installed the ExBox which I mentioned previously I have been putting off for a while. All the electronics are now nice and high up away from water, my CB is installed, I added a USB and a 12v socket and there is a large storage space free under the drivers seat.
I got my rig new in September last year and have been slowly working on it but still have a long way to go so I thought I might as well make a thread for it.
So far all I have done is add an APT fabrications bull bar, a tradesmans roof rack to which I have attached a jack and shovel holder and...
