US Midwest Minnesota Meet and Greet 05/11/2019

I'm down for either. I actually finally got my park permit in the mail today! I get mine by being an MPR member. With that said, the yearly permit is $35 well spent. https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/permit.html https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/park.html?id=spk00100#homepage

    Water Use

Another thing I thought of is how you cook your meals. For breakfast, I like to cook my bacon in the cast iron skillet, then crack my eggs in to it. Clean up is a splash of water heated up and scraped around and a quick wipe with a paper towel. If I dump the eggs and bacon in to some tortillas...

    Obsruction of view?

I agree with what's been said. I run a similar setup, but hang it down over the radio. I don't have a pic handy, but the top of the tablet only sticks up a couple of inches above the radio. If you have controls on your steering wheel, there is no real need to see the radio 95% of the time you...

How to protect CB Firestik antenna?

I actually have two antennas. I run a 2' one daily (it just barley hits the door opening) and keep the 4' one behind the back seat for if and when I need it. I run a spring under both. To be honest, I run the 2' just so I can have a CB antenna on my truck so I can look cool.

    Water Use

I really like to eat my food in tortillas. No need to dirty a plate..... I also carry my condiments in the single use packets. Squeeze out, toss in the trash bag, no knife dirtied either.

    Cycle suspension after lift.

You put a zip tie snugly on the center of the shock shaft and then drive around. The shock body will push it as the suspension cycles. where it is after a drive shows you how far the shock compresses. if it is damaged or gone, you are bottoming out your shock and your bump stops need looking at.

    Cycle suspension after lift.

What method did the lift use? if you aren't seeing any places of contact, it is possible you are bottoming out a shock. You could try the zip tie on the shock shaft trick to see where your shock travel is. Also, not being a jeep guy, on coil sprung setups, you can pull the coils and with the...

    Dealing with Motion Sickness

Does your wife have other anxiety issues? I used to get horrible car sickness just like you described unless I was driving. I was at the time dealing with anxiety. I've since dealt with it (I actually realized I was being silly and started mental exercises reminding myself all was fine, I'd done...

    Full coverage rig insurance?

I'd reach out to another agent or two. I had the same happen with my previous agent. Each year I would ask for new quotes, dude would just tell me "yea, looked around, didn't find anything better". I called another guy, Was able to increase coverage of my house and cars, reduce deductibles for...

What do you consider a "trail?"

"forest road" is going to mean different things to different parts of the world.... this is a forest road here in MN.... I've had more scrapes, bruises and dents to my skid plates on "forest roads" in Minnesota than I did a whole week running "trails" In Moab.

    Full coverage rig insurance?

Have you talked to an actual insurance agent? Find one that isn't tied in to only one company and can search out good pricing for you. They might even be able to tie your homeowner's/renter's insurance all together and you can sometimes end up paying less or getting better coverage than you thought.

    Map Filter for disputed paths

I use an OnX map chip in my handheld Garmin when I an on foot and hunting. Gaia has same/ similar layers on its maps showing public and private land. But, just as you did, an apology and an exit was in your best interest.

What piece of gear made the biggest improvement to your experience?

I wish I could take credit, but I saw it on some random camping/overlanding YouTube video. Sadly, I do not remember which....

What piece of gear made the biggest improvement to your experience?

yup! Like I said, it's like having running water. Washing hands, taking a "Bird bath" or washing dishes is great. No batteries, no cords...… It also makes putting out the remnants of your fire easier.
