New Member from Canada - EH?!?

I hear you! Can't wait to hit the road on a long trip! Keeping fingers and toes crossed we will fight his Covid! Or at least learn to live with it! I think overlanding is going to grow as a favorite thing to do in this new era of viruses! Cheers!

    Yukon and the Dempster Highway

Nice. I read your chapters. That was an exciting adventure. I hope to one day drive the Dalton and Top of the World Highways. Glad you got the certificate in Tuk. Hope you join the Dempster Rally next year (event is already posted). I was hoping to go to Tuk this year as well, but Covid...

    Yukon and the Dempster Highway

Not sure if you’ve made it up there given Covid (Dempster past the NWT border is still closed). I just posted an event for 2021: road trip from Calgary to Tuk via de Dempster. I’ve driven the Dempster many times in case you have any questions.

    Dehydrated meals - any recommendations?

Nice. Going to see if they sell in Canada, or order some in.

    Dehydrated meals - any recommendations?

I use Wise Company. Love the Wise Cheesy Lasagna, has 15 grams of protein per serving (great for hikers). It's lightweight and easy to pack. Cooks in pouch for minimal mess (just add hot water). I also dehydrate my fruits - especially berries. It makes for some delicious and healthy fruit...

CA West Canada Conquering the Dempster Highway: Road Trip to Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, Canada

That is correct, Yukon and NWT Govs were very restrictive with their Covid regulations. NWT still has the border closed linked to the Dempster Highway. I am not surprised and do support it given the Aboriginal communities need to be protected. Only essential travel was allowed in: NWT Border...

CA West Canada Conquering the Dempster Highway: Road Trip to Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, Canada

That is a great plan what you have in the works. I'll do the Maritimes in 2022 (which was actually supposed to be in 2021). Then, Arches/Moab in 2023. All just draft plans for now. The dates will change in early 2021 (right now it's a placeholder), but they are dependent on many factors --...

CA West Canada Conquering the Dempster Highway: Road Trip to Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, Canada

Great! It is beautiful up there. I have driven the Dempster many times. Had it planned for this year again -- all the way to Tuk, but then Covid happened. Hope Covid will be gone by the time July/August 2021 comes around. This time, I'll be heading to Tuk for the first time Hope you'll join the...

CA West Canada Conquering the Dempster Highway: Road Trip to Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, Canada

Ha! Ha! This is only for 2021, so lots of time to prepare. If you were there in 1989, lots has changed. You are definitely due for another visit *smiles*

CA West Canada Conquering the Dempster Highway: Road Trip to Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, Canada

This will be a multi-week road trip with lots of off-roading, hiking, camping (including off-grid), pic stops...and.... lots of 'white-knuckle-holding-on-to-the-edge-of-the-seat' passenger reactions! (just kidding). We will also be dipping our toes in the Arctic Ocean. View Rally Point
