Very nice setup and great job fabricating the rack. My only concern with going high with the RTT is the CG. I’ve had my trailer up on one wheel a few times on some rougher trails and would think it would’ve tipped over if the CG was higher. Looking forward to hear how it works out.
Took a buddy up a camping spot we frequent so he can join us in the future without us having to come off the mountain to lead him if he decides to join us after we’ve already gotten there.
My wife grew up in San Gabriel and still has family in Arcadia. We find ourselves down there every couple of months...although it’s a bit too crowded and traffic sucks for me.
My previous Jeep had the drivers window cut on the half door uppers but nothing was taken because there wasn’t anything to take. My current Jeep , which I have had for 11 years, has a hard top and I keep quite a bit of gear in it. I’ve never had an issue with theft. While I love the “freedom” of...
I joined not because of what I got from OB, but because I saw it as a worthwhile organization to support. It’s been so long since I joined I can’t even remember what it cost...less than $30 I believe. And no annual renewal? Hardly a financial sacrifice and I count the friendships and the advice...
And this is one reason my tent is trailer mounted. A TJs lack of cargo space neccessitated building up a trailer. With a well built trailer, it’s amazing how maneuverable the Jeep can be while towing. Without the trailer, I would never consider a RTT on my little TJ for the reason you posted...
When camping I’ll make Swedish pancakes. It has a crepe like batter which is a little thinner than regular pancake batter. Several years ago my wife came up with a great idea to use condiment squeeze bottles for storage and to squeeze the batter into the pan.
I was just up there this past weekend. Definitely a good trip, but very warm this time of year. I’d consider camping up there September/October and only do a day trip in the summer.
I’d have to imagine with your current mods that’s quite a capable “off-road vehicle” with the only real obstacle to performance being ground clearance and wheel travel. Not being very familiar, what kind of drivetrain are those (AWD, 4WD, locking diffs, etc.)?
Armor...skid plates, diff covers, rock sliders, etc. assuming you have a JK, it’s easy to supplement the stock skid plates to tighten up the weak spots.
