I drove past a pretty harsh accident (wreckers and EMS where already on scene) that involved a 4x4 truck and a Subaru, It was on a corner of a major highway. Some people think AWD means they don't need to slow down.
I think the point here is that you where prepared. These people were not prepared at all. It felt like none of them had never seen snow let alone driven in it.
I totally agree. The load on the straps was very light. It was the only way I could get something underneath those new cars haha. Yea it is very amazing, also people were going around 395 on a side road because their GPS told them that road was open lol.
Agreed! The guy was thinking he could get around traffic and follow us. To be fair, the gentlemen came up and asked us if we would help him through the ditch because he knew he was going to get stuck. But yes, vehicles like that have no business being on trails like that in those conditions.
Hello everyone,
For years I thought my headlights were "good enough" but then, after moving areas and switching jobs to one that requires me to drive through the mountains, I drove through a fairly large snowstorm. The storm was bad enough that I could not see the road even driving at a slow...
So Helen and I were visiting family back in California for the Holidays when a large snowstorm crept upon us. This is a rare event for the high deserts of California as they almost never see snow and never this much. Of course, we just had to go play in it, so we did and ended up spending the...
Yea, I agree. I chose them because, at the time, I did not have a roof rack and needed tanks that where snug against the tire. Now I have a roof rack... No need for that. I will be changing to NATO cans very soon. Plus NATO cans hold 5 gallons instead of 4 and... have decent spouts on them lol.
Mine are a few years old now, I had shavings in them as well. Honestly, I am not to impressed with the cans. They expand and contract so much with heat and elviation that sometimes I have to undo the mounts entirelly to get them on and off. Thinking of switching them out to NATO cans before I...
Looks like it’s more of an issue with running incorrect track bars.
I run a very thick front cover and no issues at all. Everyone I wheel with uses the covers you just named with no issues.
In fact. A few members run ARB front covers with currie correct link modified for high steer on Currie...
You most likely will not need to replace the Cam gear. There might be some wear on it but the likely hood that's it's enough to cause an issue is a very small chance. If it was worn enough to cause an issue, you would have an issue right now. Just replace the ODPA and you will be fine. The only...
You can run aftermarket diff covers without any issues. Almost everyone who runs there rigs off road do. I have never seen/heard of this issue with a wrangler. I have a thicker cover and a Cuirre correct link with the bigger Savvy upgrade and still have plenty of room and not once have I had it...
You can forgo the aftermarket front bumper and just do a winch plate.
The rear bumper is more important if you don’t have a tire carrier of some sort. That tailgate is going to need extra support of some kind with bigger tires.
I wouldn’t even waste the money o. The ZJ tie rod. I did it and it lasted 6 months.
Go ahead and get a Currie or do what I did and go with the savvy upgrade on a Currie steering system.
Also a note about PSI in tires. Each rig is different depending on the weight of the rig. As mine sites right now. If I am doing any crawling I drop to 8PSI. if I am cruising on dirt roads and such I will go bewteen 15-18. Even at 8 PSI my tires does not show that much squat compared to others...
Good looking LJ. I my self have an 2006 Tj! Ive done a lot with my jeep build wise from the ground up. I've also learned alot. Ive been on long overland trips and ive also done lots of hard rock crawling. My rig is going through another build stage so that we can continue the hard core rock...
If you carry a high-lift you could jack up on the slider with a little pressure just to remove the rocking. I know exactly what your talking about. I fixed the issue on my trailer with some extended lift leveling jacks. The idea is just to put just enough pressure on the rig so that springs cant...
