    Oklahoma overlanders where ya at?

My rig will probably be down until spring. I'd likely be up for a meetup in my grocery getter if it happens before then. I'm in Duncan, but I'm not opposed to driving a little.

    K Trail Clayton, OK

I've been wanting to hit it up myself, but have been reading that half is closed, but you can still do half. I don't see the article, if you don't mind re-linking it I'd appreciate it.

    Alternative to traditional radio?

If you can hear it in a M715 I should be good in my CJ. I'm definitely intrigued by the minimal wiring, being it only needs a charging cable, and I can easily wire additional outlets. The only other thing would be to have it keyed hot, and not trying to remember to turn it off/on each time I get...

    Alternative to traditional radio?

I've thought about this before, but have been concerned about the volume and the ability to power it. My kids have them, and while they are fine for their rooms or when they're out and about, I'm afraid they might be overpowered by engine and road noise. My Jeep is ridiculously loud  We...

    Tinted Windows or Not?

I definitely see a need for tinted windows where I live. It protects the interior from sun damage, and helps keep it a bit cooler in the summer. It can also help deter thieves if they can't see the gear inside. That said, I've also seen the issues you mentioned regarding backing up off road at...

Big wheels small tires or small wheels big tires?

I prefer more sidewall, and less rim. I believe that it allows for better off-road capabilities, and a more comfortable ride. Width wise, to me depends on what you're doing. I've done more requiring a larger contact patch, and with my lighter the rig I think the wider tire is an asset in the muck.

    Awesome! Subscribed

    Lighting upgrade...What connectors?

I use knock off weatherpack style connectors and dielectric grease outside of my rig. I got a pack of like a dozen for about $10. So far so good. Where I have wire to wire connections under the dash, it's soldier and heat shrink. at switches I use waterproof female spade connectors. I don't know...

It's a long way from being done, but I spent my first night in it last night!

Very cool...do you happen to have a build thread I missed somewhere along the way?

    I AM JAKE'S | Jade | Engine Rebuild | 94 YJ

I'm excited to see what you do for the sleeping platform with the two seats. I've slept in my CJ before, with both front seats in, and it wasn't comfortable. I've never really given it much thought, so I'm anxious to see what you come up with.

    Resurecting a 2000 Wrangler

I totally agree with Ron  I've gone through quite a few mistakes with my jeep, and envisioning what you want/need can prevent that. I was also one to vote for the locker. I'm biased as I can sleep on the ground and I prefer to be able to get away when I can.

What keeps you from overlanding more?

Same'ol story, money, time, life. My daughter is graduating this year and there's tons going on with that, not to mention the redirection of the overland rig specifically for that. A son who is in sports and demands a good bit of time and money as well . It's one of those things I...

    Vehicle Inventory

Definitely thanks for the post. Gives me some ideas. Quick question, what size ply did you use for your drawer, and is there any flex to it? I'm getting ready to start on a drawer system of my own.

Overlanders living in their rigs for extended periods of time?

Jake Wettern | iamjake is giving it a go out of a YJ, although it's currently in the shop.

    Alternative to traditional radio?

Thanks! I'll check them out and see what the reviews show. They look super small and seem like they'll fit the bill. I've got a good location to mount it, where the old computer used sit, and not needing a head unit is looking to be more and more appealing.

Are we seeing a comeback of rally lights?

Totally my plan. My big problem, previously, was I had flood lights where I needed spots, and nothing where I needed the floods. I've been experimenting, and I'm pretty sure I know what I'll be going with, and definitely be going function over form  Those lights do look great on your...

    Alternative to traditional radio?

I want no part of trying to hack around the ducting . Been there, done that. I'm with you, too, you'd think they'd have something. Heck, my daughters head unit is 2 pieces, the indash portion, and a remote box with all the speaker / amp / video connections. I know they have boat setups...

Are we seeing a comeback of rally lights?

I was noticing the same thing . I'm sure there are plenty of people who need them, and then there are just as many (if not more) who don't and use them simply for looks. I think there's some nostalgia behind some of the resurgence. I know I'm dealing with re-lighting my rig because my 16...

    What not to do?

I'm totally with you on this one. I traded a paid off, and what I thought was awesome, suburban because I needed more luxury in my life. Yeah, right  That's absolutely great advice, and I'd heard it before. As I understand it, it's a case of you get what you pay for. I've debated a few...
