2001 K2500 Suburban Build

Finally started on my roof rack! It's full-length so I've got plenty of real estate up there for whatever I need. Loaded up the tractor and went bush hogging today, trying to get everything ready before rifle season opens up. Killed a rattlesnake, but my wife decided that it wouldn't be on the menu

    2001 K2500 Suburban Build

@Michael No I've still got to build the sliders and the roof rack. But we'very been real busy at the shop so I haven't had time to pull it in and start on it. I built the ones on the Tahoe and was quite happy with them, I could take the Hi-lift and pick the whole side up by the sliders.

Thoughts and reasons for your chosen rig

2001 2500 Suburban I need something that will haul more than 5 people. Also started selling firewood in the winter and the Tahoe wasn't quite happy pulling that kind of weight. Those two criteria narrow down your choices dramatically, pretty much to the Suburban or Excursion. Since I was...

    2001 K2500 Suburban Build

    2001 K2500 Suburban Build

Mounted and wired up a set of 11" single row led light bars on the hood of the Suburban today. Seem to pretty bright but I haven't been able to test them at night yet.

    2001 K2500 Suburban Build

I got kinda forced into building them when I first started because nobody built one for a Tahoe that I liked not to mention I couldn't afford a pre-built bumper anyway!

The newer rams especially seem to fall apart in accidents, one of the reasons I've steered away from them the last few vehicle purchases.

    Are 5 Lugs enough?

8.8 is like a grade 5, and 10.9 is a grade 8. It's just the metric way of marking them. I've had 5 lugs on my Ford F-150, 6 lugs on the Tahoe, and now 8 lugs on the Suburban. I think 5 is enough for a F-150 the most they ever put on those was 7 and they aren't very easy to find parts for.

Just out of curiosity, why did you get 4600's and 5100's? @wolvee

Thanks! I got them from a company called Paracord Nation they make all kinds of handles, mainly for Jeeps but these are a universal set that they sell and they only cost around 30 dollars no matter how long you buy them.

    Snorkel

I miss my snorkel:-(

Maybe after I'm done being tired of working on the Suburban I'll start figuring something out like I did for the Tahoe.
