School me on DC to DC chargers

They are better for your alternator than just directing power to a second battery via a solenoid/relay, which can result in large current flows, especially if one battery is flat. The amps drawn from your alternator/car battery are fixed by the circuitry of the DCDC, so a 20A unit will only...

On A Budget: First Aid Kit

I would ensure that such items are clearly labelled for "trained persons only" or "for use ONLY under a doctor's/paramedic's direction," or store them separately. In an emergency, there is often chaos, and I wouldn't want the wrong person to cause harm.

On A Budget: First Aid Kit

I'm not sure about the USA specifically, but the use of a tourniquet without proper training crosses the line from First Aid and can land you in legal trouble. I recommend getting that training. (whatever you do, don't use it for a snake bite)

    Where To Next?

The plan for me is Central Australia this winter (July). My daughter wants to see Ayer's Rock / Uluru. From there, we will likely head further north in the Northern Territory and then return south via Western Queensland. Update: The Ferry Company had a Sale on, my shipping to mainland Australia...

    F40 mod. # B18 fridge trouble

The simple way is to get your battery checked. Or else, if you can get access to the back of the socket in your vehicle (if there is one), put a multimeter with a range of 20 volts across the wires and see if the voltage is more than, say, 11.5 volts when the fridge is running.

    F40 mod. # B18 fridge trouble

Is it a compressor fridge? It looks like it from their website. Check the voltage under load. Sometimes, if the voltage is around 10-11v, the compressor won't fully compress the refrigerant, causing it to appear to run hot as it merely recirculates the refrigerant at the outside temperature.

Show me a Road Sign.....really any sign...

We have a few similar signs, especially when leaving the airport. There is some on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, too, and if you watch for long enough, you may see foreign-plate vehicles, which is one of the reasons.

    Medical Emergencies.

Everyone who goes out on the trail and is capable should do at least some basic First Aid training. They may not be able to do everything, but every bit helps.
