Can you mount Alu-cab directly to roof without a rack?

That is a good looking tent and the Z-Rails could be an option. They are low profile at a little over an inch but since the 4runner doesn't have tracks I don't think they'll fit the contour of the roof... I just heard from the guy who had the FJ (in the link above) and he said he used 1/8"...

Can you mount Alu-cab directly to roof without a rack?

I was hoping for something even slimmer than this.. by the time I add a cross bar I’m close to the same height as my current rack. Something similar to what this guy did with the FJ. Tested: Alu-Cab Expedition III RTT — Basil Lynch

Can you mount Alu-cab directly to roof without a rack?

Ive got a 2016 Toyota 4Runner and have been looking at alternative sleeping options. Since we do quite a bit of kayaking we’ve always left the roof open to boats and slept inside the truck. This comes with its own pros and cons but have recently been tossing around the idea of alternative...

Still working through the wiring but the bracket (from @bandi on T4r.org forums) works perfectly! Onboard air is going to be so nice

Finished the dual battery install.. Very satisfied with the National Luna kit + Shrockworks dual battery kit both from a quality perspective and ease of installation. Not sure I’ll leave the battery controller where it is but for now it’s staying in the center console (there’s an audible alarm...

The gap is much more noticeable in the picture compared to looking at it in person. I may look into otrattw for another housing https://otrattw.net/Six-Position-V-Series-Switch-Holder.html Can't seem to find the thread where another build used this but it was a clean install... Sent from my...

Thanks I did... the install was really straightforward. The most difficult part was getting the fat adapter end through the firewall. I ended up making a funnel with an icing tip and a lot of electrical tape and soap for lubricant. Started on the inside and pushed it through the rubber (same...

    2016 T4R Overland/Adventurer

Ahh... Things have not gone in the order I anticipated them going with the build but I've made some additions to the ride. Recently purchased a set of Stealth Custom Series Ray10s and wrapped them in KO2's (275/70/17). Didn't think I would have any trouble with them rubbing but I guessed...

Nothing special - pretty standard drawer concept but here's what I've got... with the height I may be extending the width in the back area to fill in the gaps/cover wheel wells. Just to give it a more built-in look. Collecting all the cardboard I can at the moment to determine the shape...

@Boort Thanks for the feedback! I've been looking into high density polyethelyne sheets (1/2"-3/4" thickness)... The price is very high compared to that of plywood and I'm not sure how sturdy it would be over a 30"-40" span. I'll try to throw up a sketch but the concept I'm after is to have...

Thanks! Wheels/Tires, light bar, sso bumper, and rear bumper (cbi most likely).. Not necessarily in that order but that's what I'm after. Currently working on a drawer system/sleeping platform. Researching alternatives to plywood for material now.. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

Thanks! Yea, they're just some cheap 4" amber lights from amazon. Was going to tap into the drl but ended up following a write up from Rock Creek Overland for the install. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk
