Strawberry lake was easier, last year at least. I think you'd make it down no problem, no hardcore rock crawling. Some rock stacking for sure. You can't camp quite as close to the lake on Strawberry than Brewer.
Another option is to do Brewer, and you can always park before the last hundred...
The last couple hundred yards won't be doable with those trucks without a lot of sliding. I barely made it on 32's, 3" lift, and fully protected.
Try the Strawberry lake trail instead, it's close by and quite a bit easier, but longer.
FYI I don't think these trails are open yet
I'll say it again.. this is the best disco build I've seen
Question about your wheels and tires. I know you run the Trailworthy Fab hummer wheels. I'm considering doing the same, but I'm concerned about losing power, and the increased unsprung weight. Factory alloys weigh around 30 pounds, and...
Good point on setup, I will absolutely avoid anything that requires setup like the plague. It's easy to think, "hey this equipment looks useful and setup doesn't look too bad", times that by 5 pieces of equipment and you're spending an hour plus setting up camp. I integrate everything into my...
I like the idea of staying minimalist, but I don't think staying minimalist for solo vehicle trips (what I do mostly) is a good idea or practical. Well it depends on where you draw the line. For me, I absolutely don't want to get stuck or have a breakdown and not be able to get myself out. Those...
I have almost the same setup as Tinker - just different bumpers.
I have a greg davis bumper on the rear, which doesn't use those two 'brackets' for the tow hitch, so I've been thinking about bolting on recovery tabs there. Nice to have recovery points lower, and on both sides for using a bridle...
I was very tempted to go with the ATB, especially since my center diff definitely had some wear in it.
Why 1.00 gears? To regear the difs instead? I went with 1.41 as it's a perfect match for my 32" tires and don't want to regear the diffs anytime soon (because if I did, I'd want lockers and...
Nice, I didn't know Terrafirma made one for the D2. But now that I think about it... they're compatible on any LT230 right? I should know this, I just rebuilt an '04 box with CDL, 1.41 gears, HD cross pin, and new bearings... putting it in this weekend!! Finally sourced an '04 shifter. Had a...
Thanks. Discovery 2's get a bad rap for sure. But if you're willing to work on your own rig, I think they're a perfect option. Cheap, easy to work on, plentiful parts, and all issues and fixes are thoroughly documented.
