    That was super helpful, thanks!

Budget flatbed trays for a Ram 2500

Hey y'all, we're clearing the slate and starting over on a new build. Zeroing in on a new truck, probably a Ram 2500 gasser. We're likely going to be living out of the rig for 4 or 5 months out of the year. We also like going deep into the toolies and hanging out for 10 to 14 days without having...

Best Overland Trail Map site or app?

This was 100% true the date this was posted. Post-acquisition by Outside Online, maybe not so much. Whatever condition Gaia is in right now is likely the place it's going to be in for a long time. I'm guessing you won't see much change on that platform. Defects are going unfixed for months...

    Ask About Gaia GPS!

I've been chatting with an ex-employee of GaiaGPS and they've been outlining a bit of what happened during the acquisition. Bear in mind, I'm a random internet stranger who is getting this information from another random internet stranger. So don't take this as gospel/grain of salt/blahblahblah...

    Ask About Gaia GPS!

Is anyone else really struggling with the quality of Gaia apps (web & iOS for me) since Outside Online bought them? Everything about this app seems to have gone down hill. They used to have amazing support staff but they've all gone radio silent on the Gaia reddit forum. There's some pretty...

Back aching after a 3,500 mile trip - lumbar support?

We just finished a trip out to Ft. Collins and back for the Overland Expo Mtn West in our 2000 F-250. The truck did great like always. My back? Not so much. Every day I'd get out at the end of the day with a cranky lower back. Wondering if any of you use any kind of lumbar support addition to...

ARB bull bar & winch on a 7.3L Super Duty that's old enough to buy beer

Smart. I have a battery switch I'm intending to put inline to the winch on the positive leg. I'm not crazy about hot 2AWG wire running across the front of my truck and from what I've read, breakers don't do well on winches.

ARB bull bar & winch on a 7.3L Super Duty that's old enough to buy beer

Huh. I didn't know that. That sucks. I'm still surprised more people don't run full size rigs in the backcountry. Every one runs Tacos and then loads them up like they're Super Duties. Frankly, I was pretty surprised to find they still made it for the first gen. Super Duties like mine. It's a...

ARB bull bar & winch on a 7.3L Super Duty that's old enough to buy beer

It can be a little tricky to source info on trucks as old as mine so I thought I'd throw this out there for anyone else rocking a first generation Super Duty. I wanted a winch on the diesel pig because it seems unlikely our buddy with a TJ is gonna pull our ass out of a snowbank. So I went...

Planning my first trip to Death Valley, need suggestions, info, opinions

We've done some dispersed camping on the road to Chloride City in a very similar situation. As long as you're a mile off the pavement and in a previously disturbed area, you should be fine. It's not the most amazing campsite you'll ever run across but it'll be dark so who cares.

2000 F250 tire size upgrade without a full lift

I have a 2000 F250 7.3L with OEM tire size (265/75/R16) and spent months trying to figure out how to increase the tire size without dropping thousands of dollars on a lift. I took the truck into Les Schwab - they were _awesome_ by the way - and they added a leaf upfront for ~$500 and installed...

    EXCURSIONS AND F-250's sound off!!

For what it's worth, I put these on my F250 and like them. They give me all the clearance I need but still provide a step up into the cab for my wife. Go Rhino DSS sliders

    EXCURSIONS AND F-250's sound off!!

I ran into the same issue with sliders for my F250. I was told on one forum that frame mounted sliders on a truck that heavy could actually bend the frame members and I might be better off without. I have no way of knowing if that's true. I ended up with some cheap "sliders" that aren't really...
