SOLD East Lansing, Michigan - 2008 Nissan Xterra S

It has one slowly leaking tire. And by slow, I put in 5-10 psi every couple of months. I also have three newer wheels with matching tires that come with it, so the leaky one can be swapped out. Otherwise it’s in good condition.

Equipment Maintenance in the Rust Belt

I don't think you're overthinking it. I also tend to put attention on all those places when I'm washing, to try and keep them as free from salt as I can. You can also take a somewhat preventative measure in the fall to coat those surfaces with lanolin to help protect them through winter. The oil...

OB Approved Following Your Spotter’s Signals

One thing I do is carry an extra hand-held CB. That way I can hand it to my spotter (or use it to spot) and communicate directly with the driver. And never EVER follow an instruction unless you are confident you understand. Never fear asking for a repeat, or further clarity if you're the driver...

    Lighting up Camp

We've made several adventures this year, and often pull into camp after dark. What's your strategy for lighting up camp, especially for setting up or tearing down?

    Solo, Co-pilot, or Group?

There's a variety of ways to enjoy the outdoors, and I like doing all three of the above. I generally don't do new trails solo, but is that okay? I have been doing this a while, and consider myself fairly experienced. One can plan ahead, and bring all the gear in the world, but still get into a...

    Airing down.

I run my KO2's at 15 psi in the sand (and fairly unloaded). 20psi for trails. On the street, I run a max of around 40, even though the tires can take 80.

    Tents or car camping

Tent, but that's because my rig is too short for me to be comfortable. It works in a pinch, however.

    Is my truck lifted?

My X also has 285/75-16s. I did the infamous "melt mod" to avoid the rubbing as mentioned by BCBrian.

    How much Fuel is enough?

I agree. You need the freedom to be able to explore, without feeling anxious about your next fill-up, or being stranded.
