What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Installed GM style towing mirrors on my Ram. I freaking love them.

Nice. Gotta say, though, those newer RAM mirrors, where the inside end pivots upward from horizontal sport to vertical tow mirrors, those were a stroke of genius and the designer should be touted

Finished the cabinet anchors the other day and let the epoxy cure for over 24 hours. I am dissatisfied with the Gorilla epoxy I used. 3100 psi means nothing..... I have about 1/16 - 1/8" cap on one side of each drawer and the first one I tightened by hand, it started to draw out the anchor. So I used fender washers as spacers to help....

I had no RV jobs today, which is odd, so I decided to tackle the wireless winch relay install! I have been putting this project off since I bought the relay and wireless controller in December 2025. Started the day cleaning off the battery acid mushroom junk off the battery terminals. Then I started making the wire leads and routing them to the winch. All went as well as expected. The last piece of the puzzle is adding a 3 prong hand remote extension somewhere that is easier to access than the factory one. It is only a precautionary back up to the wireless and will be easier to access than the factory one. The heat today took its toll on me and I am done for the day.

Memorial day trip can't get here fast enough....I am so ready.....

What I did today!!!! How about blowing my 6R140 tranny….

But in everything there is a praise!!!! After a very successful week of RV repairs, and 5 jobs already lined up for next week, one is a major $4k repair, the inevitable finally happened! It only took 306k miles! My tranny blew on my way home about an hour ago. Theres a $9k bill….

Yet God is still on the throne and is sovereign over all of life! May He be praised and glorified in our adversity.

It's a GMC 5.3 liter with AFM and 240k miles...this is what I'm looking at. That and a local speed shop for an estimate

The shop tells me it is not the dreaded GM L83 AFM lifter failure. No thrown rod. Warped exhaust manifold due to rearmost manifold bolt sheering, and the added air made the computer inject more fuel. Which eventually destroyed the pre-cat, which clogged the cat. The exhaust that could not get out, was forced back UP, and out, causing knocking, whistling and the lack of power.

Couple new exhaust manifolds, new bolts, new Y pipe with new cats and should be good to go, barring any unforseen circumstances.

Last Saturday I finally installed my steer smarts yeti tie rod that replaced a worn out stock part on my JKU, should have replaced that when I got the currie drag link. That's one of the mods that you recognize immediately when rolling out of the driveway, amazing and totally worth the money.
