Anyone have any experience with Arkto backroad trailers out of Edmonton, Alberta? It’s a pop up with inside standup room, decent internal and external storage, queen bed and exterior cooking & shower.

You might look at a thread over on Expedition Portal for Arkto. Aaron at Arkto has always been responsive to any inquiry I have sent. I have one on order currently. The G12 seems to have gained a fair amount of attention lately. I have seen a few responses on ExPo and in a Facebook group for a different manufacturer where individuals went with Arkto.

Thanks. I'm familiar with Exp Portal and have seen those threads. I was hoping for feedback from someone who actually owns one. Since they haven't been on the market for years at this point, the number out in the field is likely not substantial at this stage. I've also spoke with Aaron and confirm he has been very responsive to all queries.

Do you recall the name of the FB group where Arkto came up?

Just placed my order in for the Arkto G12. Curios if any overland bound members are also Arkto owners.

I have owned one since June 2023. I am unsure if any other OB members have one, but there are a couple of threads on ExPo and an Arkto Owner FB group where you can find some owner feedback.

Picked ours up on June 2 (yes, Sunday) and rolled out with Aaron for a couple nights of camping just outside of Jasper. I added my post to the thread over on ExPo. Absolutely fantastic and zeeeeeero regrets. The exchange rate (I realize it doesn't apply to you) made it an irresistible buy as no one even comes close to building something with similar function and quality for the price here in the States. Not even remotely close.

We went with 400AHr of batteries, 400W solar, the heated tank, Ark XO corner stabilizers, insulated canvas, door cover, 2kW inverter, some high-power USB-C outlets, and the REDARC BCDC system. I dunno that I'll ever have to use my supplemental solar briefcase, but I imagine during short, cloudy, winter days...maybe? And even my options are outdated as they're constantly adding/improving things and are extremely responsive to owner requests/ideas.

Do you have any specific questions/concerns?

That’s great feedback! We are looking at many of the same options but have reserved a build spot for next year because we are waiting on a bunk option that’s in the works. I have joined the Facebooks owners group now too so lots more feedback rolling in there. I have been looking at an off-road trailer for years and Arkto finally tipped the scale. As a Canadian it’s nice to support local if you have the financial luxury too which was a big factor! Would be interested in specific feedback on a couple things, 1) I’m curious on any long term feedback on the 2kW inverter because I do have some reservations on the specific product. 2) the dust egress since there isn’t a positive air system. 3) The average power and propane usage you are seeing over time.
Cheers!

So I can’t speak longterm to the inverter or propane usage. I can, comfortably, say we experienced zero dust intrusion into the living quarters and noticed nothing in the cabinets. The seals are really robust. Even after washing it, spraying directly onto the outer storage doors, the seals stopped all water. We rolled along at over 30 mph on some insanely dusty roads with no problems.

We used the heat for roughly 8 hours in sub-40 degree Freedom Units :-D on 4 nights, and cooked at least one meal a day for 8 days on the stove. I used my separate 11-lb tank for my Partner Steel stove and fire pit. Not even a dent in a 20-lb tank with the trailer usage. Obviously that could vary wildly between people, though, and I plan to get a 30-lb tank because…why not?

I only used the inverter twice. So…can’t comment on durability but it worked great for plugging in my 100W power supply for my drone batteries. The inverter was more of a future-proofing thing for us. We plan on having this trailer a very long time and figured we may as well add it now. Frankly I’m tired of adding things, dealing with wiring, etc.
