Even the overland hound gained some space.

ill prob build a platform even with the top of the Frontrunner water tank to allow storage of things seldom used. That will also give an even spot for a cooler or fridge.

I’ve been using one of the Range devices in Lola. I really like how smooth the cruise is with it. I tried it in thecopcar today, with the same effect. Might need another one.

Started brainstorming. I’ve been considering a platform with storage beneath now that the rear seat is gone. A pair of howitzer ammo cans will fit back to back. Hmmm.

Sorry those aren’t ammo cans from a Howitzer. Those look more like TOW missile crates, but I can’t see the NSN. The Howitzer rounds come in wooden crates or strapped to special pallets. 1 round wouldn’t even fit into the crate.
Sorry to point it out... but I’m disabled due to an improperly transported howitzer round falling from a truck. I spent over half of my career with the artillery and 24 months of that was on the gun line in charge of ammunitions storage and processing.

A little more test fitting going on.

the cans do fit back to back. No pic, but I did put some blocking in place to level the cans and allow to lids to open. Also routed the cables below.

a temporary platform to see if the overland hound will ride comfortably this high.

her highness’s cushions ready for a test drive.

The overland hound really didn't care for being perched this high, nor for the step in and out. Proof of concept okay, but usage fail.

I bought this rig specifically for camping before I learned about overlanding. I assumed I’d built drawers of some sort, but received a happy surprise. Texas DPS left the weapon locker and cargo barrier in place when they sold it to me.

That alone was worth the price of admission. On the ammo can console, what did you use for cup holder inserts?

They’re from the boat store, lol. when I built my teardrop, I learned to source things from all over the place.

Added a cabin air filter today. Ductwork access provisions were there, but only Escalades were factory equipped. I found out about this little mod on a Tahoe forum. $40.

I mounted the ditch light brackets today. Still waiting for the lights to ship.

More fun today. I finally found how to add trailer towing mode. A simple gear shift change. 20 minutes. The wiring and computer program is already there.
