I am looking forward to this transformation. My plan is to build my newly acquired T4R into a weekend adventure rig. I live in Maine and have hundreds of miles and POIs marked on my Delorme that I want to check out. I have broken my build down into three phases to spread out the cost and hopefully make the process a little easier on the wallet and make good decisions for each phase.

My desired outcome is to have a rig that is capable and comfortable on gravel main logging roads and be able to get offroad to access remote sites that often time consist of rock, mud, snow and occasional downed trees along the way. Not looking to build a crawler or mudder but want to be able to get to where I wanna go.

Phase 1 is going to focus on suspension, tires and wheels and exhaust.

Phase 2 lighting, roof rack,
and armor,

Phase 3 probably wont get completed until next spring but will be RTT front bumper and winch compressor and other things that I discover over the summer.

I am going to run 285 70R17 BFG KO2s due to having them on every vehicle for the last 15 years and getting good results. What load range to you recommend and why? Figured the Es would be heavier but would the extra plys help prevent flats on gravel roads with significant amount of shale?

For the suspension I am torn between OME and Icon Stage 2 long travel kit.

Would the performance be better on the ICON for the logging roads? OME would most likely meet my needs but ICON is pegging my want mete and would probably perform better on the higher speed logging roads.
What would you chose?

With 2.5" lift and 285s is there any need for spacers with a wheel with 4.75BS

That's the same tire (E rated) I run on my T4R with a 2.5" lift using ICON Stag 2. Been through forest roads, Rocky roads and the desert with no issues.
