As far as set up preference, I could sleep almost anywhere. Preference would be my bed inside my camper shell. It’s comfortable, private, has everything I need. Nothing to setup, breakdown, or put away. Just crawl in and sleep.

I have been using an Oztent with a stretcher and sleeping bag for a few years now - comfy and l sleep well. But next Monday l pick up my trailer - a Pod Extreme - and then a few weeks later it gets a Bush Company roof top tent on it's extended racks. With a 270 degree 30 Second Awning on the passenger side and a Quick Pitch Shower Tent on the driver side I'll be ready to go. Much quicker to set up and pull down and no need to lift the heavy Oztent on and off the roof anymore it should be great.
In a big daddy dbl swag now instead of the wind up camper van much easier to throw swags in trailer or car and off you go plus can get to a lot more places with out the van

Pros: None of the inconveniences of a RTT. Mattress covers over the uneven ground. Tent is all mesh without the fly over it creating a great breeze and star gazing.

I still use a ground tent (Coleman, but soon to be a Gazelle), it’s what I already had when I started in this hobby, it’s dry, and it serves me well.

Gazelle T4 ground tent with a Helinox cot max convertible cot with the leg extension kit and an Exped MegaMat 10 sleeping pad. This system allows we to sit up on the cot and put my feet on the ground. I can also stand up completely in the T4 and I am 6'1"

Pro* - It's like being suspended by angels between two clouds, softly being rocked to sleep.
Con - You need at least one tree or a stand to make it work. If you travel with a partner, you have to sleep separate.
*Serious Pro - You get an incredibly flat, comfortable and supple sleeping surface with the right gear. Rain/muddy ground is of no concern and general condensation is much less than a ground tent. They are quick to set up and take up minimal storage space in the rig. A properly hung hammock will leave absolutely no trace anybody was ever there, which is my favorite aspect.

Usually...ground tarp, bucket floor swag, yoga mat, thin mattress (sometimes) sleeping bag...and lately a pillow (getting old)....If I have the kids or more people...larger tent but basically the same set up, and always carry a fly tarp, some paracord.

Multi person set up...this occasion we had Lindsay's gazebo...worked a treat !
I’m currently using a Jumping Jack trailer. We can just fit my wife and I and our four little kids, with the two youngest on the floor in Pea Pod tents.

I have a removable rooftop tent on my kayak trailer for extended stays, for overnighters I just use a double swag as it's easy to set up with plenty of room to roll around, p.s. swag photo is a stock shot.

I'll take my SeaToSummit hammock instead of my ground tent any day of the week (or I'll throw a mattress, sleeping bag and pillows in the back of my crossover).

RTT for now. I enjoy the ability to always be off the ground. This is especially nice when camping in bear/big cat country, but even when I go to National Parks in a traditional campground people aren't looking into your tent.
I sleep on a full size mattress with 3 sleeping bags, layer for warmth.
Cus I'm an old fart and I want as much comfort as I have at home.

Late reply but only just got out camping again after the trailer rebuild.
I'm a RTT kinda guy. "The Penthouse" good for catching a cool breeze too.

How do you like that kitchen setup? I’ve been debating something like that vs a plywood chuck box vs my current setup, which is simply an additional folding table (one for cooking, one for eating) with a storage tote full of kitchen gear.
