Altitude Sickness

I am now starting my adventures of America The Beautiful

T-1 and a wake up!
it'll be fine, just remember your army training...

1. socks go on before boots
2. stay hydrated
3. when looking at a map, "left" is west and "your other left" will be east

enjoy your trip! :grinning:

What if I give my map to the LT?

Then he will turn to the highly prized unicorn Warrant and say, Chief what’s this??
Chiefs reply, We’ll Sir, you see this is what you call a map. Put your phone down and remember your training!!!

I agree with most of these posts, hydration is key. As far as coffee, or other caffeinated drinks (mine is Diet Coke, not coffee), you will want to take some Aspirin with you. Not only does it help in general, but if you go cold turkey on caffeine, a good idea at altitude, you'll probably get withdrawal headaches. Aspirin is a great option here.

Drove 5 hours to the Telluride area. We found a great cut thru trail and Sad to say but we had to come down from our fabulous perch last night at 0245. I couldn’t sleep and had a major headache! It was a bad one. So we tried to find a place lower but nothing dispersed anywhere. We ended up at Matterhorn Camp. We reset the truck, filled with water and had a nice shower and ate breakfast!!! Then the camp host said, we didn’t have to pay!! Blessings for sure!
I am feeling much better but it is definitely no joke at altitude! I think it was mainly sinus issues as my ears were plugged all day yesterday. But being cautious, I tap!!
