Whats up fellas, so heres the deal. Im wanting to build an overland rig but i can decide on an xj or wj i like the simplicity and price for pretty much everything for the xj but im concerned the 4.0 will lack the power needed to haul my family and all the gear im going to be putting in and on it on interstates to get to places and up trails which is one reason im leaning towards the wj with the 4.7 v8 but ive been told the 4.0 xj gets better mileage because its lighter and it also seems a little more "rugged". Would love some opinions and feedback thanks guys!

I had XJ with the 4.0 and it had plenty of power for a family of five and our gear. I prefer the XJ over the WJ, and they are usually a little cheaper. However if you ever plan on towing I would go with the WJ.
You could turbo charge it Banks has a really nice turbo set up for the 4.0 .

Awesome thanks guys, so here's another option ive kinda been kicking around. Would a 3rd gen 4runner be just as good of an option or possibly better?
Personally, is still say the XJ, they're skinnier, have plenty of room, and have the 4.0 liter I6 that goes forever
