This weekend I spent time getting my winch rope hause right.
At the beginning, about 6 years ago when I changed from winch wire to synthetic rope with hause, I simply removed the roller fairlead and bolted the hause on. Moving forward to a few weeks ago out offroading, the winch rope was binding on the drum and was difficult to unspool. A few of us looking at the drum, my friend says that the rope is not leading to the drum correctly, it should be approaching it from the bottom not directly center as I had it.
Jimmi demonstrated with his winch how the rope should be approaching the drum and the difference between our winches was day and night. :anguished:

So yesterday I lowered the hause about 40 mm and looking at it, I can see the rope now approaches the drum more effectively. With the large open space above the hause I added a plate that covers it nicely.

Overall I am happy with the change and looking forward to trying the winch soon.
